Chapter 68 - Nothing Slips Away

The morning didn't feel fragile anymore.

It didn't feel like something that could be lost between one moment and the next.

Shen Yichen noticed that absence of fear only in hindsight—when he realized he hadn't been guarding the moment at all.

Lu Han stood by the doorway, watching him for a while before speaking.

"You don't look like someone who's waiting for collapse anymore," he said quietly.

Shen Yichen didn't deny it.

"…I'm not waiting for anything," he replied.

A pause.

"Not even collapse."

Silence.

That sentence used to define his entire internal world.

Now it felt distant.

Lin Yue looked at him softly.

"And what are you waiting for now?" she asked.

Shen Yichen paused.

"…Nothing," he said quietly.

A pause.

"And that's new."

Silence.

Lu Han stepped forward slightly.

"You're no longer driven by anticipatory anxiety loops," he said.

Shen Yichen nodded once.

"I think that stopped without me noticing," he said quietly.

A pause.

"It just… became normal."

Silence.

Lin Yue stepped slightly closer.

Shen Yichen noticed—but there was no internal spike anymore.

No correction.

Just awareness.

She was here.

And she stayed.

Lin Yue spoke softly.

"You don't check me anymore," she said.

Shen Yichen shook his head once.

"…No," he said quietly.

A pause.

"I don't need to."

Silence.

Lu Han exhaled slowly.

"You've fully internalized emotional safety," he said.

Shen Yichen looked at him.

"I don't think I experience it as safety," he said quietly.

A pause.

"It just feels like… nothing is wrong."

Silence.

Lin Yue tilted her head slightly.

"What do I feel like to you now?" she asked softly.

Shen Yichen looked at her for a long moment.

"…Present," he said quietly.

A pause.

"And real in a way I don't question anymore."

Silence.

No fear-filter remained.

Only clarity that no longer shook.

Lu Han stepped back slightly.

"You've reached complete emotional stabilization," he said quietly.

Shen Yichen didn't respond immediately.

Then softly:

"I don't feel like I reached anything," he said.

A pause.

"I feel like I finally stopped reacting before understanding."

Silence.

Lin Yue smiled faintly.

"And now?" she asked.

Shen Yichen looked at her.

"…Now I stay," he said quietly.

A pause.

"Not because I need to hold anything in place."

Silence.

"But because nothing inside me is trying to make it fall apart anymore."

And in that final quiet—

there was no tension left to resolve.

Only life, continuing gently…

without resistance.
