Another week has now passed. And it's been a total of two weeks since I came to this world.
My routine has been the same, except that I've added magic practice.
This book was truly diverse. The first half is basic spells like lumos, reparo, leviosa, aberto, aguamenti, alohomora, ect.
The second half has more defensive and offensive magic. Stupefy, expelliarmus, bombarda, expulso, diffindo, ect.
There were also some anti apparition spells in here, and anti jinx.
This past week I've only learnt lumos and leviosa. I tried expelliarmus but even after a handful of tries, I could only manage to make some sparks.
Rhys looked at the wand in his hand and thought of Wilhelm.
He had seen him even less than last week, it was as if he had found something interesting.
"Rhys! Come down."
Rhys jerked at the voice. I guess it's time.
He stood up and started to walk downstairs. Let's see if I survive another week.
Rhys arrived downstairs and saw Wilhelm.
"It's time." He turned and walked towards the kitchen.
Rhys raised an eyebrow. Was he in a hurry?
Arriving in the kitchen he sat down at the table.
Wilhelm moved his wrist and a paper flew out and landed on the table, along with a pen.
"Here. Hurry up, I got things to do."
Rhys nodded and picked up the pen.
As he read the first question he realized it had gotten quite a bit harder. Luckily he was prepared.
He started to write down the answers but stopped on question three.
Ratio? Shit! I don't remember that. Rhys rubbed his temples, he looked at the test, hoping to find clues there.
No lucky.
I guess I'll have to guess.
Rhys wrote down something he vaguely remember reading.
After a few more minutes he was done. As he laid down his pen and massaged his wrist, Wilhelm stepped forward impatiently and took the paper.
His eyes swept past his answers and nodded approvingly.
"Pass."
Rhys breathed a sigh of relief. Wilhelm ignored him and took out three new books.
"Here, same old story. There's a test next week." After he said that he hurried away towards the back of the house.
Rhys looked at Wilhelm's back. He had followed him discreetly the other day, and it seems he went to the basement.
If he had to guess, he went to his research laboratory. That would explain the hurry.
He stood up and walked towards his room. Time to get back to studying.
After he arrived at his room he closed the door and placed the new books on the bed.
He wanted to learn the cleaning charm so he could clean his room and clothes.
That had been his goal since he saw it in the book, but he had been unsuccessful.
The incantation is: Scourgify.
For the rest of the afternoon he divided his time between practicing spells and reading the new books.
He lost his sense of time and soon realised that dinner had passed, but Wilhelm hadn't called him.
Rhys didn't care, he wasn't hungry. He kept practicing his spell.
After a few more minutes he stood by the bed and made the wand movement,
"Scourgify!" A flash of light swept out and cleaned his bedside table.
"Haha, I succeeded." Rhys smiled.
He sat down on the bed and stretched. Maybe it's time for bed.
Just as he stood up he heard a light knock on his door.
He raised an eyebrow. What was that?
He walked over and peeped out the keyhole. He saw nothing.
"Strange."
He opened a crack in the door and looked out, his gaze swept over the dim corridor. Creepy.
He was just about to close the door when he saw a piece of paper on the ground.
Opening the door wider he got a better view of the piece of paper. It was an origami bird.
Rhys opened the door completely and picked up the paper bird. As he inspected it he saw some writing on the wing.
He started to unfold it. After a few seconds he held an unfolded piece of paper and on it was a message.
"Come down to the laboratory. I know you know where it is. Time to do some real assistant work."
Rhys felt a chill run down his spine. This couldn't be good.
He put the piece of paper in his pocket and tucked his wand in his waist band.
Slowly he made his way down the corridor towards the stairs. His mind was running at a thousand miles per second.
Was this how he died? Shit!
Before he knew it he was standing at the door of the basement.
Rhys took a deep breath and opened the door.
He took slow and controlled steps down the stairs. His heart beating faster with every step.
Soon he stood in a well lit corridor. Hmm, it was well lit compared to the rest of the house.
As he walked his steps made clear foot steps across the stone floor.
He walked past a few door openings and inside were empty rooms but inside a few were metal instruments lined on tables.
Some had dark stains… some were still wet.
Walking past one of the door openings he saw a steel table, on the table laid something white. The distance made it hard to discern.
It was completely still, certain parts made the imagination run wild. After all, it was too human shaped.
His gaze darted around as his steps slowed. There were more of those weird instruments on desks standing everywhere in the room.
Just as he was about to stop he heard a voice from the end of the corridor.
"Rhys, over here." It was Wilhelm.
Rhys hurried his pace and soon arrived at the door opening.
He looked in and straight forward was a mahogany desk, and behind it sat Wilhelm, he was writing something in a notebook.
"What took so long?" He said in a displeased tone as he looked up at Rhys.
"Sorry, I was just about to sleep and my door was closed."
Wilhelm raised his hand.
"Okay, enough."
He stood up and walked around the desk.
"Come with me."
He walked out the room and into the corridor. After they had walked a handful of steps and walked past a steel door he stopped and pointed.
"This is the burner room."
Rhys looked at the door and nodded.
"Come."
They kept walking until they reached the room he had peeked into earlier, the one with a steel table with something white on it.
"Let's go in."
Wilhelm walked in.
Rhys followed, what hit him first was the lights that turned on, then came the smell.
CHAPTER END.
