The driver's hands were shaking.
"The person I hit... just glitched and disappeared."
I should have walked away. I lit a cigarette instead.
"Now, that's a case."

The interrogation room smelled like bad coffee and something colder.
Kenji Morita sat across from me, brow furrowed, eyes empty.
"I... I don't remember. I barely recognize you."
I checked my watch.
11:59 PM.
"What can you remember?"
"I remember heading h-h-h-h-h-o—"
His voice splintered. His body flickered—once, twice—like a dying signal.
I reached out.
My fingers touched nothing.
The chair was empty.
The officer beside me blinked. "Sir? Who are you talking about?"
I stared at the chair. I knew someone had been sitting there.
I think I knew.
