Chapter 19 - [ACT] 19: The Day

Crack.

He pushed open the door that had stayed shut for so long.

Warm, slightly blinding sunlight washed over his face, bringing a pleasant itch to his skin. Hyūga Kumokawa squinted after spending so many days cooped up inside.

A light rain had fallen the night before, leaving the Konoha with perfect weather today.

Puddles on the ground reflected a clear blue sky, like someone had painted a patch of blue and white clouds onto blank paper.

The stuffy feeling that had built up during his closed-door training was washed away by the rain and carried off into the drainage channels.

"Looks like today's going to be a good one," Hyūga Kumokawa murmured to himself.

Beside him, Might Guy was shouting with wild enthusiasm, flames of fighting spirit practically blazing around him. Kumokawa walked out of the residence alongside his friend and opened his status panel.

"Finally," he thought.

A smile spread across Hyūga Kumokawa's face as he looked at the new ninjutsu listed under the Ninjutsu section and the Tenseigan that had reached its second stage.

The body he possessed, carrying Ōtsutsuki blood, had progressed through ninjutsu at a far faster rate than he had expected.

In just two months he had not only mastered Lightning Release Armor but had even developed Lightning Release: Chidori on top of it.

Lightning Release Armor was a B-rank technique—also known as Lightning Release Chakra Mode. By concentrating Lightning Release chakra over the entire body, it coated the user in a layer of electrical energy that heightened physical activity, enabled Lightning Instant Body, and boosted both defense and nerve conduction speed.

When the body and technique were pushed to their limits, the speed could rival the Flying Thunder God Technique used by Namikaze Minato. It allowed the user to instantly evade Uchiha Sasuke's Amaterasu, moving so fast it earned the nickname Blue Lightning.

Lightning Release: Chidori, on the other hand, was a derivative of Lightning Release: Raikiri. The two were not the same technique, and the difficulty of mastering them was on entirely different levels. Chidori was A-rank while Raikiri was S-rank. The difference lay in the degree of chakra shape transformation.

"Chakra shape transformation" and "chakra nature transformation" were the two core methods for using and strengthening ninjutsu.

Simply put, shape transformation was about giving formless chakra a physical shape—turning it into blades, needles, and so on—to control the technique's power and range. Nature transformation added an element, changing neutral chakra into wind, fire, water, earth, or lightning.

In terms of practical effect, Chidori emphasized versatility over raw destructive power. Raikiri used shape transformation to achieve greater piercing and cutting force, while Chidori relied on multiple forms of Lightning Release chakra to inflict damage.

Examples included changing the chakra into a long spear or long blade for "Chidori Sharp Spear" and "Chidori Blade," or infusing it into a weapon to dramatically increase its sharpness with "Chidori Edge."

After mastering Lightning Release Armor, Kumokawa had suddenly had the idea to try developing Chidori. After all, in the original story Uchiha Sasuke had only needed a few days to learn it.

If Sasuke could do it, there was no reason he couldn't.

Still, advancing further to Lightning Release: Raikiri would take more than two months. That technique represented the pinnacle of Lightning Release chakra shape transformation.

There was also the Purple Electricity that Kakashi had created after losing his Sharingan—an even more extreme example of Lightning Release nature transformation.

"Even so, this training speed is honestly ridiculous," Kumokawa thought with a sigh of amazement.

No wonder even the ever-optimistic Might Guy had frozen for a split second when he saw it.

Naruto, also known as The Eye Legend of the Five Villages' Brawls, The Temptation to Return to the Village, My Village Chief Grandpa, Dad, and Teacher, and Kurozetsu's Quest to Save His Mother.

This world that told the story of the Ōtsutsuki clan and a handful of other things was truly a place where bloodline reigned supreme.

"With this, I finally have the basic ability to protect myself. I can move freely now and step into the next phase of my plans."

"Although the system can only materialize abilities and items based on the existing power systems of this world, at their core, powers from other worlds—like those from the 'Death God' universe—are still rooted in the concept of the soul."

"Let's see how many points I can harvest by creating an entirely new life form and branch system from nothing, then crafting a complete, logically consistent backstory so that others actually believe the lie…"

Lost in thought, Kumokawa glanced ahead at Might Guy, who was burning with passion all on his own. It almost looked like a blazing flame was roaring behind his back.

"Guy-senpai…"

"Kumokawa!"

Before Kumokawa could finish, Might Guy spun around with a wide grin. "From now on, just call me Guy. Drop the 'senpai.'"

Kumokawa paused, instinctively wanting to refuse. Maintaining a humble image was important, after all.

But seeing the earnest look on Guy's face and the subtle shift in his eyes when he looked at him, Kumokawa fell silent for a moment.

Natural types really do counter schemers, he thought with an inward sigh.

Finally, meeting Guy's gaze, he smiled and said, "Guy."

Guy's grin grew even wider.

"Guy," Kumokawa continued, "did something happen in the village? I saw a lot of people heading toward the entrance."

"No idea." Guy shook his head, puzzled, then laughed. "Why not go see for ourselves? Let's race—whoever reaches the village gate first!"

Kumokawa didn't want to ruin the mood. When Guy took off without waiting for an answer, legs pumping like pistons, he simply smiled and followed.

In truth, he already knew exactly why the villagers were gathering.

They were heading out to welcome the delegation from Kumogakure, here to sign the alliance treaty with the Konoha.

Even though he had been in closed-door training these past days, his intelligence network had never been cut off.

Kumokawa understood the importance of information and had set up several contingencies outside the clan long ago.

He knew that the person most responsible for Kumogakure's decision to come sign the treaty wasn't Sarutobi Hiruzen, who had stayed in the village. It was Shimura Danzō, who had been sent out on the mission.

Danzō might look like an amateur in foreign affairs and an expert only in internal ones, but in reality he had played a very active role in both the Second and Third Great Ninja Wars. That was how he had earned the nickname "Shinobi of Darkness" across the entire ninja world.

It was under his coercion and inducement that Hanzo of the Rain had broken ties with the original Akatsuki organization founded by Yahiko and the others. Without Danzō's interference, Hanzo had actually been leaning toward cooperating with Akatsuki.

If those two forces had joined hands, the outcome of the war in the Land of Rain would have been far from certain. In the end, Danzō had single-handedly altered the course of the Third Great Ninja War.

No matter how dirty the man known as the "Shinobi of Darkness"—or more accurately, the "Stirring Stick"—might be, his underhanded methods often produced astonishing results.

This time was no different.

By stirring up tensions between Iwagakure and Kumogakure, he had intensified the hostility between those two nations and, as a result, eased the relationship between the Land of Fire and the Land of Lightning.

Of course, Kumokawa knew the truth, the entire thing had been orchestrated by Kumogakure from the start.

"The day has finally come."

He smiling as he looked toward the distant crowd gathering at the gate.
