The first Black Eclipse soldier reached the stone platform.
Bhaskar moved before he could take another step.
Their weapons struck with a sharp metallic sound that echoed through the chamber.
"Stay behind me!" Bhaskar shouted.
But Tez knew that hiding was no longer an option.
The ancient sanctuary had awakened.
The golden flame at its center was burning brighter.
And the enemy had come prepared.
The Battle Beneath the Mountain
Veer and Keshav moved together, blocking two attackers who tried to reach Aditi and Somesh.
Naman picked up a fallen wooden staff and used it to defend himself.
Aditi pulled the younger members of the group toward the wall.
"Don't spread out!"
The chamber had suddenly become a maze of movement.
Feet struck the stone floor.
Weapons clashed.
Shouts rose and fell beneath the enormous ceiling.
Yet through all the noise, Tez heard something else.
A faint humming.
The Guardian Seal in his hand was responding to the flame.
The masked commander noticed it too.
"Give me the seal."
Tez stared at him.
"No."
The man stepped forward.
"You don't understand what you're carrying."
"Then explain it."
The commander laughed.
"Your father never told you the truth, did he?"
Tez's expression hardened.
"Do not speak about my father."
"Why?"
The commander raised his weapon.
"Because he knew exactly what the Guardians had become."
Tez's anger rose.
For a moment, the old fire inside him returned.
He remembered Suryanagari.
The flames.
His mother's voice.
His father's final command.
The commander smiled.
He had seen the anger in Tez's eyes.
"Yes."
"That is the boy I was looking for."
The commander attacked.
Tez blocked the first strike.
The impact forced him backward.
The man's strength was greater than expected.
Tez struck again.
The commander avoided it and kicked him in the chest.
Tez fell hard against the stone floor.
"Tez!"
Vaidehi rushed toward him.
"I'm fine!"
He quickly stood.
The commander attacked again.
This time Tez did not fight with anger.
He remembered Somdev's words.
"The man who hides his weakness can never become strong."
Tez slowed his breathing.
He watched the man's shoulders.
His feet.
His grip.
He waited.
The commander swung.
Tez moved aside.
The blade passed inches from his face.
Tez struck the man's wrist.
The weapon fell.
Before the commander could recover, Tez kicked it away.
The man stepped backward.
For the first time, surprise appeared in his eyes.
"You've learned."
Tez raised his staff.
"I'm still learning."
The Black Seal
Behind them, Vaidehi noticed something lying near the stone platform.
A dark metal disc.
The commander had dropped it during the fight.
She carefully picked it up.
The moment her fingers touched it, a sharp vibration ran through her hand.
She almost dropped it.
Tez noticed.
"Vaidehi!"
She looked down.
The disc was covered with strange markings.
At its center was a symbol resembling a black flame.
"It feels..."
She struggled to find the words.
"Cold."
Tez moved closer.
"Put it down."
But before she could, the commander saw it.
His expression changed completely.
"Give that to me."
Vaidehi stepped backward.
"No."
His voice became threatening.
"You don't understand what you're holding."
"Then tell me."
The commander stared at her.
For several seconds, he said nothing.
Then he smiled.
"Ask your grandfather."
Vaidehi froze.
"What does my grandfather have to do with this?"
The commander's smile widened.
"More than he ever told you."
A Secret About Vaidehi
The commander lowered his weapon.
"Your family has protected these mountains for generations."
"That is true."
"But you were never told the whole story."
Vaidehi's face became pale.
"What story?"
"Ask Somdev why your parents disappeared."
The words struck her like a blow.
Tez looked at Vaidehi.
"Your parents?"
She did not answer.
The commander continued.
"They didn't die the way your grandfather told you."
Vaidehi's fingers tightened around the black disc.
"You're lying."
"Am I?"
He stepped closer.
"Your mother was a Guardian."
"So was your father."
"And both of them knew about the final sanctuary."
Vaidehi shook her head.
"My grandfather said they died protecting the Sacred Spring."
The commander laughed.
"That is only half the truth."
Tez stepped between them.
"Enough."
The commander looked at him.
"Ask Somdev."
Then he whispered,
"Ask him what happened the night they disappeared."
Vaidehi's eyes filled with uncertainty.
For the first time since Tez had met her, he saw fear in her face.
Not fear of the enemy.
Fear of discovering that someone she loved had lied to her.
The Sanctuary Awakens
Suddenly, the entire chamber trembled.
A deep sound came from beneath the stone platform.
Everyone stopped fighting.
The golden flame rose higher.
The seven symbols around the platform began glowing one after another.
Wisdom.
Courage.
Compassion.
Truth.
Discipline.
Sacrifice.
Unity.
The commander stared at the platform.
"What have you done?"
Tez looked at his hand.
The Guardian Seal was shining brilliantly.
"I didn't do anything."
Then the light moved.
It passed from Tez's seal toward Vaidehi.
She stepped backward.
"Tez..."
The golden light surrounded her.
A symbol appeared on her palm.
A small flame enclosed within a lotus.
The commander stared at it in disbelief.
"No..."
Bhaskar looked at Somesh.
"What is happening?"
Somesh whispered,
"The sanctuary has recognized her."
Tez stared at Vaidehi.
"Why?"
The old scholar answered slowly.
"Because she is not merely a Keeper."
"She is a descendant of the original Guardian line."
Vaidehi looked at her glowing palm.
"What does that mean?"
Somesh did not have time to answer.
The stone wall behind the platform suddenly lit up.
Ancient images appeared.
A group of Guardians stood beside a river.
Among them was a young woman.
Tez's eyes widened.
He knew her face.
He had seen it before.
Not in life.
In an old family painting preserved by his father.
His mother.
Tez stepped closer.
"That's..."
He could barely speak.
"My father..."
The mural shifted.
A younger Devadatta appeared beside the woman.
Vaidehi stared at the image.
She recognized the woman too.
"My mother."
Tez looked at her.
The two stood frozen.
Their parents had known each other.
More than that...
They had once stood together among the Guardians.
The Hidden History
The mural continued.
Devadatta and Vaidehi's mother were shown carrying a Guardian Seal between two sanctuaries.
Behind them were other Guardians.
Then the image changed.
A dark figure appeared.
His face had been deliberately erased.
But the symbol beside him was unmistakable.
The Black Eclipse.
The Nameless One.
A wave of cold moved through the chamber.
Tez whispered,
"My father was fighting them long before Suryanagari."
Somesh nodded.
"Yes."
Vaidehi looked at him.
"Then why didn't my grandfather tell me?"
Somesh hesitated.
Before he could answer, the commander spoke.
"Because your grandfather made a choice."
"What choice?"
"He chose to hide the truth."
"To protect you."
Vaidehi's voice trembled.
"And my parents?"
The commander smiled.
"That is the question you should ask him."
The Unexpected Escape
Suddenly, the commander threw a small black sphere onto the ground.
It shattered.
Thick smoke exploded across the chamber.
"Stay together!" Bhaskar shouted.
The Black Eclipse soldiers disappeared into the smoke.
Tez rushed toward the commander.
But a heavy stone fell between them.
The chamber shook violently.
"He's escaping!"
Tez tried to move around the stone.
Too late.
The commander's voice came through the smoke.
"Enjoy your discovery, Tez."
Then his voice became distant.
"Every answer you find will create another question."
The footsteps disappeared.
The smoke slowly cleared.
The commander was gone.
So was the black disc.
Vaidehi looked down at her empty hands.
She had lost it during the confusion.
The Flame of Courage
The chamber became quiet again.
The golden light remained.
The flame above the platform slowly descended.
It stopped in front of Vaidehi.
She looked at Tez.
"What should I do?"
Tez remembered his first lesson in the Guardian chamber.
The Guardians did not seek power.
They protected knowledge.
He shook his head.
"Don't take it."
Vaidehi looked surprised.
"Why?"
"We don't know what it wants."
"Then perhaps..."
She reached out slowly.
"...we should listen."
Her fingers touched the golden flame.
The chamber suddenly filled with light.
A wave of warmth spread through everyone.
Then a voice echoed from every direction.
"Courage is not the absence of fear."
"Courage is walking forward while carrying it."
The light disappeared.
Vaidehi's palm stopped glowing.
But the symbol remained.
A small golden mark.
Permanent.
Tez looked at her.
"Are you all right?"
She nodded.
"I think so."
Then she smiled faintly.
"I was afraid."
Tez smiled back.
"So was I."
"Then perhaps we both passed."
The Mountain Opens
A loud crack came from the far wall.
One of the seven stone doors opened.
Beyond it lay a narrow passage illuminated by faint blue light.
Naman approached.
"Where does that lead?"
Somesh examined the markings.
"It goes deeper."
"Much deeper."
Tez looked at Vaidehi.
"We should go."
She nodded.
But before they could move, a strange sound came from the newly opened passage.
A whisper.
Not from the mountain.
Not from the Guardians.
A human voice.
A woman's voice.
Weak.
Almost impossible to hear.
"Tez..."
He froze.
Everyone turned.
Again came the whisper.
"Tez... don't trust..."
The voice disappeared.
Tez stared into the darkness.
"Who was that?"
No one knew.
But Vaidehi's face had become pale.
Because she recognized the voice.
"My mother."
The Final Revelation
Tez looked at her.
"You're sure?"
Vaidehi nodded slowly.
"I heard her voice when I was a child."
"But she disappeared years ago."
Naman looked toward the passage.
"Then perhaps she isn't dead."
Hope and fear appeared together in Vaidehi's eyes.
Tez stepped beside her.
"If there's even a small chance..."
"We have to find out."
She looked at him.
"And if it's a trap?"
Tez answered quietly,
"Then we'll face it together."
For a moment, they stood in silence.
Vaidehi gently placed her hand over his.
Neither spoke.
Neither needed to.
Something deeper than friendship had begun to form between them—not a promise of love, not yet, but a bond forged by trust, danger, and the knowledge that both were carrying pieces of the same forgotten past.
Far above the mountain, beneath the cold light of the moon, a lone rider watched the entrance to the valley.
The Raven.
A messenger knelt before him.
"The sanctuary has awakened."
"The boy has entered it."
"And the Keeper's daughter is with him."
The Raven remained silent.
Then he asked,
"Did the mountain speak?"
"Yes."
"What did it say?"
The messenger hesitated.
"It called the boy by name."
The Raven's face became thoughtful.
"Then the mountain has recognized him."
He turned toward the distant peak.
For the first time, there was no smile on his face.
"That was not supposed to happen yet."
The messenger looked confused.
"My lord?"
The Raven mounted his horse.
"Send word to the Nameless One."
"Tell him..."
He looked toward the glowing mountain.
"...the two heirs have awakened the path."
Then he rode into the darkness.
Inside the mountain, Tez and Vaidehi stood before the newly opened passage.
The ancient walls seemed to breathe around them.
Seven sanctuaries.
Seven flames.
Two bloodlines.
And somewhere in the darkness...
a secret connected their families.
Tez lifted the Guardian Seal.
Vaidehi looked at the mark on her palm.
Together, they stepped into the unknown.
Behind them, the golden sanctuary slowly closed.
Ahead...
something waited.
Something that had known Tez's name before he had ever entered the mountain.
And something that might finally reveal what happened to his father...
and to Vaidehi's missing parents.
