Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Xavier's POV

I stood up and grabbed a heavy glass decanter from the bar.

I threw it at the wall, and it shattered, spilling glass and liquor everywhere.

It wasn't enough. I had to bleed. I had to hunt.

My phone beeped, the screen bright. I picked it up and glanced through the screen.

A picture of my stolen shipment and the others seized by the police stared back at me.

The number was hidden and I bit back the inside of my cheeks. Another message popped up. "How do you like that, Xavier?"

"Henrique," I growled. He dared to try me.

Another beep rang and I read the words. My anger grew with every letter. "We should work together. Not as partners of course. You'll be underneath me. After all, you are a half breed bastard."

That was it. If he wanted trouble. Then, I'll give it to him.

I grabbed my leather jacket and helmet.

"Don't wait up for me," I said to the butler as I strode past him to the garage.

The engine of my bike roared to life as I started it up, driving out of the estate and didn't stop until I was in the clearing in the woods of the Crimson Sparrow territory.

The moon was full and high in the sky.

I turned off the engine and took off my helmet.

My hand slipped into my pocket and pulled out my phone. My fingers dialed the number.

It rang the first five seconds and he picked. "I didn't think you would call back," he said with a cackle.

"Meet me at the border linking to the forest. I'm waiting," I said into the receiver.

I hung up before he could answer, leaned against my bike, my arms crossed, and waited.

Ten minutes went by slowly. My ears picked up the sounds of loud rumbling engines breaking the silence.

Bright headlights cut through the trees like predator eyes. Six bikes surrounded me, and six men dressed in leather and arrogance.

They stopped before me, the engines coming off one after the other.

Henrique Crimson Sparrow took off his helmet, his short strawberry blonde visible under the full moon's light. He had a scar running down his chin.

He smiled, stepping off his bike. "You nuts have a death wish, Xavier? Coming here alone?"

I smiled back, a cold smile devoid of any humor. "Who says I'm alone?"

Henrique Crimson Sparrow looked confused, and looked around the space.

Henrique followed my movements with his eyes.

Then, the forest came to life.

From these trees, the deep shadows emerged.

The low rumble of a dozen more engines roared to life as more men emerged from the trees to circle the Crimson Sparrow pack completely.

Henrique Crimson Sparrow turned pale.

"Are we ready to talk business now?" I said sweetly.

Henrique scoffed, trying to cover his fear. He pounded his fist on his helmet. "You think this scares me? Letting them waltz in here?"

"Yes, considering you were generous to waltz into my territory," I blurted.

"Get them out or you're dead," he threatened.

"Careful," I said softly. "Don't try it."

My men stepped off their bikes, cracking their knuckles, their eyes changing colors.

"We are not easily cowed, Xavier!" Henrique shouted, unzipping his jacket. His chest puffed out under the grey shirt. "We are wolves too, in case you've forgotten. I am an Alpha too of this pack, just like you."

"I know that," I said. I could feel my nails growing longer and sharper, becoming thick daggers. "But there are levels to this game, Henrique."

I took a step forward. "Return the shipment you hijacked. Or be ready to be torn alive."

Henrique spat on the ground near my boot. He laughed, taunting me. "Go on. I dare you. Do your worst."

I tilted my head. "As you wish."

I didn't even have to signal. The clearing erupted into a total disorder.

Bodies collided; the sound of fists hitting the enemy's flesh; the snarls of wolves filling the air.

I moved through the brawl, sidestepping the Crimson Sparrow enforcer that launched himself at me.

I grabbed his arm, snapped it like a twig, and tossed him aside like a rag doll.

I walked straight towards Henrique.

Henrique shifted. His clothes ripped as he turned into a brown wolf. He launched himself at my throat.

I caught him in mid-air, and my hand closed around his throat. I slammed him to the ground, and the ground cracked from his impact. I didn't move; I didn't have to.

"Change back." I told him; my hand constricting around his throat; he choked.

Henrique changed back into his human form; he gasped for air; the blood trickled from his nose.

I stood him up by his throat; he hung there; his feet dangling off the ground.

"You made a big mistake coming for what's mine." I told him.

"I… I'm not giving you anything." He struggled for air; his eyes popped.

I nodded slowly; I took him over to his bike; I tossed him onto his bike; I raised my hand; my claws sparkled in the moonlight; I slowly dragged my claws across the metal gas tank of his bike.

SCREEEEEEECH.

The sound was agonizing; the paint peeled; the grooves cut deep into the steel of his bike.

His bike fell down and the fuel started to leak.

Henrique winced; he closed his eyes; he thought I was cutting through his skin.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked; my hand raised high; my claws pointed at his chest. "I could make this last much longer."

He looked at my claws; then into my eyes; he didn't see any mercy; he saw the demon.

"Stop!" he screamed; his eyes shut, slowly opening to look into my cold ones; "I'll tell you; I'll tell you where it is!"

My hand stopped just inches from his heart poking his chest; the demon growled with disappointment; the wolf smiled with satisfaction.

"Hmm," I lowered my hand; I leaned in close to him. "That's better."
