Arthur Sterling didn't celebrate. He just casually stepped over the sparking, twitching remains of the cyborg lieutenant. The heavy smell of burnt wire and roasted coolant fluid filled the corridor. He rolled his right shoulder, working out the slight stiffness from the 2x multiplier burst.
He turned his head to check on his employees.
They didn't need his help.
Cassia was a blur of crimson and silver. The rogue bounty hunter vaulted cleanly over the hulking, bone-plated brute as it desperately tried to swipe at her legs. While she was upside down in mid-air, she leveled both of her stun pistols directly at the creature's exposed neck.
"PEW! PEW!"
Two hyper-condensed plasma bolts struck the brute perfectly in the spinal column. The creature didn't even get to scream. Its nervous system instantly short-circuited. It hit the floor like a felled tree, completely paralyzed.
