Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: A Visitor from the Underworld, A Strange Victory

Chapter 118: A Visitor from the Underworld, A Strange Victory

The powerful wind from the punch blew back D's long blue hair, revealing her stunning face underneath. Shiro shivered, and the force behind her fist dropped instantly.

D looked at the fist hovering right in front of her face, her expression as calm as a still well.

*Bam!*

In the end, the punch still connected.

Blood sprayed everywhere, painting the room crimson as her head burst apart in an incredibly gruesome scene.

But a second later, it was as if someone hit the rewind button on the entire room. D's body miraculously pieced itself back together.

In that brief instant, a trace of the aura radiating from her body made Shiro's heart skip a beat. It was the true aura of death, a manifestation of the ultimate end of all things.

It felt exactly like... the rot attribute?

Yes, it was the "rot attribute" that represented death itself. Even a tiny trace of that absolute power of death left her feeling completely hopeless.

Looking at D, who still stood there looking as noble, cold, and elegant as a goddess, Shiro's eyes filled with pure shock.

"What a shame, I didn't hide it well enough..." D muttered to herself, knitting her beautiful brows in a rare display of annoyance. "Why did you stop?"

Shiro unclenched her fist and slowly lowered her arm. She stared at D's face with a deeply conflicted look.

Tilting her head, D let out a captivating smile and parted her lips. "Couldn't bring yourself to hurt me?"

"..."

Like hell she couldn't.

She just had more important things to confirm with this woman, so she had to hold back for now. Besides, she didn't actually have the strength to kill D anyway. At most, she could smash her head open just to vent some steam.

Shiro took a few deep breaths, forcing down the boiling rage in her chest, and said in a heavy voice, "I will definitely save the teacher."

"That is your choice. I am merely a spectator; I won't interfere." D spoke casually, as if talking about the most mundane thing in the world.

"A spectator?"

"You won't interfere?"

"Even if your fiancé is stolen right from under you, you won't step in?"

"Fiancé?" D repeated the word. It seemed to trigger an amusing thought, and the corners of her mouth curved upward. "What do you think?"

Shiro's heart sank.

She still remembered the contents of that phone call from years ago perfectly. In fact, it was precisely because of that call that a constant wall had formed between her and Shirazawa.

How did Shirazawa know so many things? He always seemed to possess a prophetic knowledge of events he had never even encountered. She couldn't bring herself to believe there wasn't a catch.

She couldn't figure it out before, but after that phone call, everything clicked. It was all because his fiancé was the supreme Evil God. Naturally, someone blessed by the Evil God would know things ordinary people could never glimpse.

Because of this, she had believed in their engagement without a single shred of doubt. This was exactly why she wanted a direct showdown with the official partner, D.

"Shirazawa belongs to me. Even you can forget about taking him away." Shiro's voice was firm and cold. She was fully prepared to fight D to the bitter end, knowing full well she couldn't win, but refusing to give up.

Hearing this, D's smile widened as she spoke each word deliberately: "He is mine!"

Those three short words felt like an invisible mountain, crushing the breath right out of Shiro. Whether it was the massive gap in their strength or their respective identities, everything left Shiro feeling utterly hopeless. She felt incredibly weak, and her resistance felt completely ridiculous. This wave of helpless misery tortured her deeply.

Seeing the young girl looking so completely helpless, as if she had fallen into a bottomless abyss, Maid-chan couldn't bear to watch any longer.

"Don't listen to her nonsense, it's just a contract."

The cat-eared girl's voice reached Shiro's ears, causing her to snap her head up.

"A contract?"

Maid-chan wanted to spill more details, but D shot her such a vicious glare that she instantly shut her mouth. D's intimidation factor was simply too high; little Maid-chan valued her own safety and didn't dare to push her luck any further.

"What on earth do you mean by a contract?" Shiro caught the slip in Maid-chan's words and immediately pressed for answers. "Tell me!"

"..."

D uncharacteristically fell silent.

As a supreme god, she never stooped to lying. From the very beginning, everything she said had been the absolute truth. That included the time she had shared her feelings with Shiro; those were indeed D's genuine thoughts. And it was exactly that sincerity that had caused Shiro to fall face-first into the massive trap D had dug for her. That was the brilliance of D's open strategy.

"...You win."

After a long silence, D slowly let out those two words. *I really shouldn't have kept this stray cat around!* She shot an annoyed look at the cat-eared maid.

"Huh?!" Shiro stood there completely dazed, entirely unable to follow the conversation. "Win? Win what?"

Looking at her bewildered face, D suddenly reached out a slender finger and affectionately poked her forehead. "You dummy."

"..."

But she really didn't get it!

D let out a sigh and explained patiently, "Back then, I made a contract with him. I called it a marriage contract, but he thought I was just joking around, so that's how we ended up referencing each other."

"From now on, cut back on the internal monologues and stop overthinking everything. You brought all of this stress upon yourself by letting your imagination run wild."

Shiro parted her lips in a daze, unable to snap out of it for a long time. The way this story was turning around felt entirely unreal. Just when she was on the verge of total despair, she had somehow won without even trying?

Maid-chan: *Inheriting the will of the elders, she's the absolute best!*

"So, your relationship..." Shiro asked weakly, wanting to make absolutely sure one last time. "It's fake?"

D arched an eyebrow, her tempting red lips curving into a smirk. "What do you think?"

Shiro: (⊙o⊙)…

"Then, that contract..."

"It's just a safety measure, don't worry about it." D waved her hand, leaning lazily back into her chair. She crossed her long, slender legs elegantly, quietly waiting for something. "Go do what you want to do. I won't interfere. Besides, I won't even have the chance to."

"What does that mean?"

D had no intention of explaining, because the person she was waiting for had already arrived.

"You certainly made me look everywhere for you!"

A light, slightly complaining girl's voice rang out, followed by a beautiful silhouette appearing out of nowhere right in the middle of the room.

The newcomer wore a white lace maid outfit, her black hair flowing down to her waist, a gentle smile resting on her beautiful face. However, her smile carried a terrifying pressure, causing the temperature in the room to instantly plummet into a biting chill.

"I got careless," D said, a trace of genuine regret on her face. "The perfect camouflage I worked so hard to maintain got exposed because of that sudden regeneration just now."

The maid kept her warm smile, but her voice carried an undeniable authority. "As a supreme deity, you have absolutely zero sense of responsibility. This little runaway stunt ends right now!"

"Alright, it's time to come back with me~"

With that, D's personal secretary, her most capable right hand–Meidou–finally noticed the other two individuals in the room.

"What are these two things?"

Shiro and Maid-chan took a synchronized step backward. Though they were deeply annoyed by Meidou's arrogant tone, neither of them dared to snap back.

Meidou's arrival had been completely silent, without causing a single ripple in space, as if any trace of her presence had been completely erased by an immense power. That kind of power was something they couldn't even hope to match.

"These are my two new toys~"

"Oh~...?"

Meidou looked Maid-chan up and down. She was completely ordinary, with a body and soul so incredibly weak that Meidou ignored her instantly.

However, the other one–the white creature who looked exactly like her master–left her completely puzzled. She didn't seem to be a clone of D, so why did they share the exact same face?

As for her strength... a mere low-ranking god was absolute garbage, worse than the old lady who cleaned the toilets back home. There was no reason to pay her any attention.

"I accidentally created this god-level spider while trying to dodge your search party. Pretty interesting, right?"

"Uh..." Meidou couldn't see anything remotely interesting about it.

But the farce ended here. "Alright, let's go, Master. There's nothing else to do here."

"The paperwork back home has piled up to the size of an entire planet. If you don't get back right now, things are going to fall apart."

Though her words sounded like a request, her movements were completely unyielding. She grabbed D firmly by the back of her collar, preparing to drag her away.

"No way! I don't want to go back to work! Let me stay here forever~!"

"Having fun is the only thing a god should be doing! Let go of me..."

"..."

Shiro: *Heh. This woman is definitely my original self, no doubt about it.*
