Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Raccoon City Police Department

Ryan, relying on his memory, led Leon through the zombie-infested streets. While running, Ryan observed Leon and began to understand why he had become such a popular protagonist in Resident Evil.

Compared to Ryan—who had played the game before entering this world—this was Leon's first time encountering zombies. He wasn't some saint who could remain calm in the face of disaster. Ryan could clearly see the panic on his face, yet Leon hadn't lost the skills he had gained during police training. It was as if he were forcibly suppressing his fear deep inside.

It had started to drizzle when Ryan left the hospital, but he hadn't paid much attention to it. However, by the time they reached the main entrance of the police station, the rain had grown heavier. Ryan accidentally stepped on something slippery and fell hard to the ground.

The noise instantly attracted nearby zombies.

"Damn it!"

Ryan panicked. This was the real world. In the game, death meant restarting—but here, death meant the end. He didn't even know if Leon would help him.

But to his surprise, Leon stopped and pulled him up.

"Are you okay? Can you still walk?"

Ryan pressed his lips together and nodded.

However, when they looked up, the zombies had already surrounded the entrance of the police station.

Ryan cursed inwardly.

"This is completely different from the game…"

He looked at Leon awkwardly.

"Maybe we should retreat… It's my fault. Otherwise, you would've made it inside."

Leon smiled calmly.

"It's fine. I'm a police officer too. Let's break through—aim for their legs and clear a path. Do you have enough ammo? I only have five rounds left."

Ryan nodded and handed over two of his three full magazines.

Leon checked them and chuckled.

"Let's see whose aim is better."

Ryan gave a bitter smile, raised his Matilda, and the two began firing.

Ryan trusted Leon's shooting skills. Without them, Leon wouldn't have survived Raccoon City.

Soon, they managed to break a path through the zombies.

They exchanged a glance and charged forward.

But the danger wasn't over.

Even fallen zombies remained active.

Ryan rushed through first, but as Leon followed, a zombie grabbed his ankle from the ground.

Its bloody mouth opened wide.

Leon froze.

"Is this… the end?"

Bang!

A gunshot rang out.

The zombie's grip loosened.

Ryan shouted:

"What are you waiting for?! Do you want to become their dinner?!"

Leon snapped out of it and broke free. The fallen zombie tripped others behind it, buying them time.

Ryan pushed open the door, and both of them rushed inside, slamming it shut and locking it.

Leon smiled.

"Thanks, brother."

Ryan sighed.

"Who asks for repayment so quickly? Wouldn't it be better to owe me for a while?"

Leon laughed.

"Seems I misjudged you. Don't worry—there'll be plenty of chances later."

---

Inside the station, their tension eased slightly. They sat near the door, listening to the distant groans of zombies.

"So, you're Leon? Leon S. Kennedy?"

"That's right. Looks like you were supposed to be my colleague…"

Ryan nodded.

"Ryan Smith. Patrol officer. We even prepared a welcome banner for you… but I got injured before I could see you."

Leon lowered his head slightly.

"…There must still be survivors inside."

Ryan nodded outwardly, but inside he smiled bitterly.

"There aren't…"

---

They reloaded their weapons and moved deeper inside.

The lobby was empty.

The reception desk was a mess, and only the Goddess Statue stood silently in the center.

"Ryan! Come here!"

Ryan walked over.

A security camera feed played on a laptop.

A police officer was running from a zombie.

"Marvin! I found a way out! Hurry and save me—I'm heading to the East Wing corridor!"

Ryan recognized him immediately.

"Elvin. From our office."

They rushed toward the East Wing.

A shutter blocked the path, with a warning sign: Do Not Open.

They ignored it.

Together, they forced it open halfway and crawled underneath.

The corridor was pitch black.

Ryan sighed.

"This is going to be a long night."

Leon turned on his flashlight.

"Let's survive first. We can complain later."

---

They searched the corridor.

Unlike in the game, ammo wasn't neatly placed—it had to be scavenged from corpses.

In the press room, Ryan searched a body carefully.

"Watch it. Don't let it get up."

Leon aimed at the corpse.

Ryan found a box of 9mm ammo… empty.

"The situation is worse than I thought."

"I've got seven rounds left," Leon replied.

"Let's find Elvin first."

---

They approached the monitoring room.

"Elvin's" voice echoed:

"Help me!"

Leon rushed in.

Ryan followed with a grim expression.

He knew what was coming.

Inside—

Elvin was already dead.

Torn apart.

Leon closed his eyes.

Ryan glanced at the shutter, which was shaking violently.

"Let's go. This noise will attract more zombies."

Leon grabbed Elvin's notebook.

Suddenly—

BANG!

The door shook behind Ryan.

"Damn it… they're strong!"

Ryan braced himself against the door.

"Leon! Get ready!"

Leon aimed.

Ryan lunged forward—

The door burst open.

A zombie rushed in.

Leon fired instantly.

Ryan dodged, tripped the zombie, and pinned it to the ground.

No matter how it struggled, he held it firmly.

"Leon—GO!"
