Chapter 42 - CHAPTER 42:Blood and silence

The moment Rudhran saw Nandhini, his entire body froze in shock. His heart pounded violently against his chest, and his eyes refused to believe what stood before him. After so many long years, she had appeared before him once again. The sight of her shattered the control he held over his emotions.

Nandhini slowly walked toward him and confessed her love with trembling eyes. Rudhran listened silently, unable to utter a single word.

Inside his mind, chaos erupted.

What is happening...? This cannot be real. This is not my present... this must be a dream. You died long ago. It is true that I loved you once... but fate never allowed us to be together. Now, my wife, my lover, my companion—everything to me—is only one person. My Ponni alone holds that place in my life.

The moment those words left his lips, Nandhini slowly disappeared into thin air.

Rudhran stared at the empty space before him in disbelief. Suddenly, a mysterious light descended upon him once more. Only then did he understand the truth.

Those who accepted their past lives without denial were the only ones worthy of entering Velmora Veil.

Rudhran had finally accepted the truth of his past life, and because of that, the light welcomed him inside. The glowing force pulled him forward. At the same time, the other two had also accepted their own pasts, allowing the magical river to guide all three of them toward Velmora Veil.

When they finally opened their eyes, they found themselves standing inside the world of Velmora Veil.

After enduring endless pain and hardships, they had finally reached their destination.

But the moment they stepped into that mysterious realm, they felt a terrifying change within their bodies. Every ounce of power they possessed began to disappear. Their abilities abandoned them completely.

The three stood there in stunned silence.

Everything around them looked strange beyond imagination.

The sky above was dim and hazy, yet a thick blue mist covered the entire city. Despite that, the sun remained clearly visible in the heavens. The lamps scattered across the city were unlike ordinary lights. They seemed to burn using black crystals or some unknown Veil Energy.

The group stared at the bizarre city in amazement.

Even the entrance to that enormous city could not be seen clearly.

Suddenly—

A powerful force struck them from behind.

All three fell to the ground instantly.

Before they could react, the warriors of Velmora attacked them again. Without their powers, resisting became impossible. The warriors easily overpowered and captured them before dragging them deeper into the city.

As they approached a certain area, a magical doorway suddenly materialized out of nowhere. The guards led them through it and imprisoned them inside a dark cell.

Soon, an interrogation began.

"Who are you? I have never seen any of you here before."

The three exchanged silent glances but revealed nothing.

"We came here by mistake," they answered carefully.

The guards immediately frowned.

"How can anyone enter this place by mistake? This is not a realm one can accidentally stumble into."

Despite their suspicion, the guards locked them inside the prison and walked away.

Once they were alone, one of them asked in a low voice, "Why did you hide the truth from them?"

Another quickly replied,

"We cannot reveal anything right now. If they learn that we came searching for the weapon, they will kill us immediately. That is why we can only claim that we entered this place accidentally. No matter what happens, do not tell anyone our true purpose. Nobody must know why we came here."

The others silently agreed.

Some time later, the guards returned.

The three were tied upside down with heavy ropes binding their hands and legs. The interrogation began once more, but this time, it was accompanied by brutal torture.

Blood flowed from their wounds and dripped onto the floor like streams of red water.

Yet not a single word escaped their lips.

No matter how mercilessly the warriors beat them, they repeated only one answer:

"We entered this place by mistake."

The guards continued torturing them through several rounds. Security within Velmora Veil was considered sacred, and they firmly believed outsiders could never enter by accident. Their years of trust in the Veil's protection made them certain these strangers were hiding something important.

The beatings became increasingly violent.

Still, the prisoners refused to speak.

This only fueled the guards' anger further. Their rage reached terrifying heights, but they still did not kill the three captives. If they died, the mystery of how they entered Velmora Veil would remain unsolved forever.

At that moment, Rudhran suddenly lifted his head.

"We will tell you why we came here," he said weakly. "But first... untie us."

The warrior leader hesitated before finally giving the order.

"Release them."

The ropes were cut.

Rudhran slowly rose to his feet, pretending to struggle from exhaustion.

"The reason we came here is—"

Before he could finish the sentence, he suddenly attacked the nearest guard with explosive force.

The other two reacted instantly.

Chaos erupted inside the prison chamber.

Using the brief confusion to their advantage, the three escaped from the guards and ran through the corridors. While fleeing, they activated a magical doorway.

The glowing portal opened before them.

Without hesitation, the three jumped inside—

And vanished without a trace.
