Chapter 2 - The Name Begins to Spread

Sirens.

Again.

Red and blue lights cut through the night.

The same street.

The same chaos.

But now—

Crowded.

People all around.

Whispers.

Phones recording.

Two men on the ground.

Broken helmets.

Bodies down.

A motorcycle thrown aside.

The police arrived quickly.

— Step back! Give them space!

One officer crouched down.

Checked the pulse.

— Unconscious…

Another looked around.

— What happened here?

Voices started rising.

— I saw it!

— No, I saw it first!

— It was just one guy!

The officer frowned.

— One guy?

A man nodded, still shaken.

— He just ran in… no hesitation.

— They were on a bike… but he jumped them.

Another added:

— I think he got hit too…

— But he didn't stop.

— Took both of them down.

Silence.

— One person did that…? — the officer muttered.

A small tug on his sleeve.

He looked down.

A kid.

Smiling.

Eyes shining.

— It was a superhero.

The officer blinked.

— …What?

The kid made excited gestures.

— Boom! Pow! He beat them and left!

Some people laughed.

Others stayed quiet.

The officer sighed.

— Right…

He stood up.

— Who was the victim?

Silence.

People looked at each other.

— The girl…

— She was just here…

— She left.

The officer narrowed his eyes.

— She left?

No name.

No statement.

No trace.

Condominium

The doors opened.

Gu Gun stepped in.

Silent.

As always.

A small cut on his lip.

Dried blood.

Inside—

Two guys.

One tall. Strong presence.

The other good-looking, confident.

They were talking.

Stopped.

Looked at him.

Gu Gun leaned against the corner.

Ignored them.

Wiped the blood from his face.

Low… in Portuguese:

— What a mess…

They exchanged glances.

— What did he say? — one whispered.

— No idea… not Korean.

— Weird…

Silence.

The elevator going up.

DING.

Doors opened.

Same floor.

They stepped out.

Gu Gun too.

In the hallway—

A woman.

Carrying groceries.

Sharp eyes.

Letícia's mother.

She looked at him.

From head to toe.

Dirty clothes.

Signs of a fight.

Cold expression.

Her face tightened slightly.

— I don't like him…

Low.

Controlled.

She turned to the boy beside her.

— Ken.

He looked at her.

— Stay away from people like that.

The boy kept his eyes on Gu Gun a second longer.

Curious.

Gu Gun walked past them.

As if they didn't exist.

Entered the apartment.

Door closed.

Inside the House

— You're back? — his aunt called from the kitchen.

— …

— I'm going to take a shower.

No waiting.

He walked off.

On the way—

Seo-yeon.

Leaning against the wall.

Phone in hand.

She made a disgusted face.

— You stink.

Silence.

Gu Gun stopped.

Looked at her.

Cold.

Direct.

She held his gaze for a second…

Then clicked her tongue.

— Tsk.

He walked past.

Went upstairs.

🚿 Bathroom

Water.

Heavy.

Falling.

Gu Gun leaned into the shower.

Water running down his face.

Washing the blood away.

His body wasn't exaggerated.

But it was trained.

Solid.

1.80m.

75 kilos.

Balanced.

Black hair.

Fringe covering part of his eyes.

Eyes…

Tired.

Deep.

Empty.

Then—

It came.

"You're worthless!"

(a man's voice)

"Freak!"

"I should've aborted you!"

(a woman crying)

"I hate you!"

(a child's voice)

Silence.

Another voice.

Calm.

Cold.

Inside his head.

"You'll always be alone…"

"No one will stay with you…"

"You'll never be happy…"

"And him…"

"he won't save you."

"He forgot you."

"You're just a grain of sand…"

"lost in the ocean."

"A disgrace."

Water falling harder.

Gu Gun opened his eyes.

Breathing heavy.

He wiped his face.

Hard.

As if trying to erase it.

Silence.

Then—

Low.

Almost a whisper:

— …I need coffee.

Living Room — Night

He came down dressed.

Gray oversized shirt.

Sweatpants.

Slides.

The front door opened.

A man walked in.

Sharp suit.

Serious face.

Tired eyes.

His uncle.

He closed the door…

Then saw his wife.

His face changed instantly.

— Honey!

A ridiculous smile appeared.

He walked straight to her.

Hugged her.

Kissed her.

— You have no idea how much I missed you today…

She laughed softly.

— You saw me this morning.

— That was a long time ago.

— You two can take that to the bedroom, you know.

Cold voice.

Seo-yeon.

Didn't even look up from her phone.

— Nobody here needs to see that.

The uncle placed a hand on his chest.

— Wow… someone's jealous?

He opened his arms.

— Come here, daddy's girl deserves a kiss too—

— Don't touch me.

Cold.

Sharp.

She turned away.

Silence.

— My kids don't love me anymore… — he muttered dramatically.

— I'm studying — Ji-hoon said, without looking.

— I'm training — Lia said, spinning around — I'm gonna be the best.

The uncle covered his face.

— It's over… I'm finished…

Then he stopped.

Looked up.

Gu Gun stood on the stairs.

Watching.

Silence.

The uncle smiled.

Curious.

Walked up to him.

Looked him over.

Head to toe.

— So you're Gu Gun…

Pause.

— You've grown well.

A light tap on his shoulder

.

— Stronger than I expected.

Looked again.

— Good-looking too…

Smirk.

— You'll get a lot of girls, huh?

He laughed.

— When I was your age I—

CLANG!

— Dinner.

His aunt.

Sharp look.

— And you… watch what you say.

The uncle froze.

— …

— Honey…

— That was hot…

— I KNOW.

Dinner

Everyone seated.

Table set.

Food served.

Gu Gun pulled his plate.

Served himself.

— Gu, you can let—

— I can serve myself.

Simple.

Direct.

Silence.

The maid finished.

— I'll take my leave.

— Thank you.

Door closed.

Now—

Just family.

His uncle and aunt held hands.

— Let's pray.

Everyone went quiet.

Except:

Seo-yeon — scrolling while eating.

Ji-hoon — studying and eating.

Lia — humming while eating.

Gu Gun…

listened.

"…thank you for another day…"

"…protect our family…"

"…bless this home…"

Something tightened.

In his chest.

A weight.

A memory.

His hands trembled slightly.

Voices.

Burning.

He tightened his grip on the utensils.

And started eating.

Ignoring it.

Burying it.

The prayer ended.

— Tomorrow is your first day — his aunt said.

— It wasn't easy finding a school for you…

— You're a year behind.

Pause.

— But we managed.

— You learned Korean fast — she continued — four months…

— I like reading.

— Books helped.

— Hm… anyway…

Her tone turned serious.

— No fighting.

Silence.

— Ji-hoon will be there — she said — he's a representative.

— If someone bothers you…

— go to him.

Gu Gun looked at him.

— Representative?

— We have an anti-bullying council — Ji-hoon said calmly.

Silence.

— Got it.

Pause.

— I'll study.

The uncle smiled.

— Since you like fighting, why don't you join a martial arts—

SHOVE.

A spoon full of hot food into his mouth.

— HOT!! — he shouted.

— No fighting.

Cold.

Final.

— Study, Gu.

Silence.

Gu Gun sighed.

After Dinner

Everyone left.

Heading to their rooms.

Gu Gun stayed.

Looked at the sink.

Full.

— …

Rolled up his sleeve.

Started washing.

Water running.

Dishes clinking.

— Lazy…

Low.

Flat.

Finished.

Dried his hands.

Went upstairs.

Room

Silence.

He opened the window.

Lit a cigarette.

Inhaled.

Exhaled slowly.

— School…

Pause.

— What a hassle.

Smoke rising.

Empty eyes.

Scene Shift — Letícia

Room.

Dim light.

Letícia lying down.

Staring at the ceiling.

The scene replaying.

Him running.

Jumping.

Taking them down.

Cold.

Fast.

Then—

Handing her the bag.

Without a word.

— …

Knock knock.

— Sweetie?

Her mother opened the door.

— Going to sleep?

— Yeah.

She sat beside her.

— You barely ate…

— Did something happen?

— No…

Pause.

— Just wasn't hungry.

Her mother watched her.

Didn't push.

— You have school tomorrow.

— I know.

A small smile.

— Everything's ready.

Her mother smiled.

Kissed her forehead.

— Good night.

— Sleep well.

— Good night.

Door closed.

Silence.

Letícia turned in bed.

— Hmm…

A small smile.

— He's weird…

Pause.

— I wonder…

— Does he go to my school?

Curious eyes.

A distant thought.
