Euphoria placed the food on a nearby rock without a word. "This is all I can do for you," she said, before pulling her clothes from the woman's desperate grasp and returning to the cave. She had seen the resentment burning in the female's eyes, and she found it bitterly ironic that the woman had chosen to blame her for their shared misfortune rather than the monsters who had actually caused it.
For the next several days, Euphoria didn't see the woman again; even her meals were delivered by Hood. While she pitied the captive's plight, she refused to take responsibility for the woman's misplaced hatred.
That afternoon, the sky turned a leaden gray and heavy snowflakes began to fall, rapidly transforming the world into a silver-white landscape. Perched on Hood's back, Euphoria shivered violently as the wind-chill from their flight cut through her clothes. Hood, sensing her distress, grew worried that she wouldn't survive the exposure and landed much earlier than usual.
