Cherreads

Chapter 85 - CHAPTER 85

Ignore them.

Within a quiet corner of the arranged banquet space an unusual neutral ground established after recent instability involving "Monjushiro" two figures were absorbed in reading.

Nakime and Rui sat side by side, both quietly reading Kyogai's latest manuscript.

Kyogai's works had rapidly spread across both human and demon circles, becoming an unexpected cultural phenomenon.

What began as experimental writing had turned into a literary movement that even demons could not ignore.

At another table, commotion suddenly broke out.

"Look! It's Kyogai!"

Two human waitresses, visibly excited, rushed over upon recognizing him.

Kyogai blinked in surprise as they handed him books and asked for signatures.

He hesitated briefly, then calmly signed their copies.

Nakime, observing silently, paused her reading for a moment, her expression unreadable as she watched the interaction.

Rui glanced at her briefly, sensing something faintly amusing in the situation but saying nothing.

Meanwhile, at another seat, Enmu remained absorbed in Kyogai's earlier works, completely captivated after Rui's recommendation.

Rumor had it she had even requested Muzan's assistance to alter her form to better align with her self-image an unusual request even among demons.

At the central table of honor, an unprecedented gathering was underway.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki raised a cup in a calm gesture, sharing a rare moment of truce with former enemies.

Opposite him sat Kokushibo and Muzan.

Kokushibo leaned casually, clearly amused by the unusual atmosphere.

"Now that things have settled down," Kokushibo said lightly, "perhaps it's time to think about expanding the next generation?"

Amane Ubuyashiki, seated beside Kagaya, looked slightly embarrassed, though Kagaya himself remained calm.

Kagaya replied gently, "Perhaps we should first focus on the present harmony."

Kokushibo chuckled and casually placed a hand near Muzan.

Muzan Kibutsuji sighed quietly. "You speak as if peace is guaranteed."

Kagaya's expression remained serene, though faint tension lingered beneath his calm tone.

Nearby, Kagaya's son, Kiriya Ubuyashiki, struggled to reach the food on the table.

Before he could speak, Muzan silently placed a portion of meat onto his plate.

"Thank you… Aunt Muzan."

Muzan paused slightly at the address but said nothing, continuing to observe the gathering with restrained curiosity.

Kokushibo continued, "We already have enough successors. Kyojuro, Muichiro, and others already carry strong potential."

He glanced at Muzan. "There is no need to worry further."

Muzan narrowed his eyes. "You speak as if everything is already under control. Yet most of the strongest demons now follow you."

Kokushibo smiled faintly. "Does it matter whose name they serve under?"

Across the hall, Akaza sat alone, quietly waiting.

After the war's end, he had expressed a desire uncertain and uncharacteristic even for him to see those he had lost.

Soon, figures appeared beside him.

"Brother Komaji…"

Koyuki's soft voice broke the silence.

Komaji exhaled slowly, his expression softened in a way that had not appeared for a very long time.

Nearby, their elders quietly raised cups in celebration, choosing not to interfere with the moment.

"Drink," they said. "Let the young live their moment."

Akaza remained silent, watching the reunion unfold with an unfamiliar heaviness in his chest.

Elsewhere, at a more chaotic table, another disturbance began.

Hantengu and Gyokko attempted to force their way into the banquet seating arrangement.

Gyokko emerged from his vessel proudly, insisting he could sit anywhere.

Before he could finish speaking, he was unceremoniously pushed aside.

Doma smiled brightly. "Sorry, this table is for guests only."

Gyokko was immediately redirected to another area, grumbling in frustration.

Hantengu attempted to argue but was ignored entirely, his presence treated as background noise.

Meanwhile, at the Tokito family table, Muichiro Tokito casually picked up Gyokko's discarded pot-shaped vessel.

Muichiro Tokito examined it briefly. "What is this?"

His family immediately reacted in confusion.

"Muichiro, don't pick up strange things."

With no further concern, he set it aside.

At the Pillars' table, food consumption had escalated beyond expectation.

Kyojuro Rengoku and Mitsuri Kanroji were eating at an astonishing pace, ordering plate after plate.

"More fish!" Mitsuri called cheerfully.

However, the kitchen eventually responded with an apologetic notice: supplies were exhausted.

At that moment, Gyokko desperate to be useful attempted to use his Blood Demon Art to create substitute food materials, transforming objects into fish-like forms.

The result caused immediate confusion in the kitchen staff, but the feast continued regardless.

Eventually, Gyokko was seated at the far edge of the gathering with the Lower Moons, who reluctantly accepted his presence due to hierarchy.

Even within chaos, hierarchy remained unchanged.

And so, the banquet continued

an impossible coexistence between demons and Demon Slayers, laughter and tension mixing under a fragile peace that none fully trusted.
