Chapter 1 - The first meeting

It was the evening of January 22, 2021. A cold winter breeze swept through the streets as Jessica walked home after celebrating her friend's birthday. The night felt quiet, wrapped in a soft chill that made everything seem slower than usual.

She wasn't thinking about anything special—just heading back, lost in her own thoughts—when suddenly, fate pulled her into a moment she never expected.

Out of nowhere, Jessica found herself standing face to face with Johnathan.

It was so sudden that neither of them had time to react properly. For a few seconds, neither of them really processed what was happening. Just two strangers, caught in an unexpected collision of paths, staring at each other in silence.

But in that silence, something shifted.

Jessica felt it first—a strange pressure in her chest, like the world had tilted slightly off balance. Her heartbeat quickened without permission, loud and confusing. She didn't know him. She was sure of that. And yet… it felt like someone familiar from a forgotten memory had suddenly appeared in front of her.

Johnathan looked at her the same way—silent, observant, almost frozen in that brief moment.

Two or three seconds passed like eternity.

Then, standing right in front of her, Johnathan broke the silence.

"Wow," he said softly.

And just like that, reality snapped back in.

Their friends moved, the moment broke, and without another word, both Jessica and Johnathan turned away—walking in opposite directions as if nothing had happened.

But neither of them truly left that moment behind.

Jessica's POV

Jessica stood there for a moment, completely stunned.

She couldn't understand what just happened. One second she was walking with her friends, and the next—she was standing face to face with him.

Why didn't I move my eyes away? she thought, confused. It felt like her body had forgotten how to react.

He was tall… at least around six feet. And those eyes—

Jessica blinked slowly, still trying to process it.

So beautiful… she thought absentmindedly, before quickly catching herself.

What am I even thinking? I don't even know him.

But the strange part was, she didn't look away immediately. It was like something held her there for those few seconds—something she couldn't explain, something she didn't understand.

Her heartbeat was still fast, a little messy, a little out of control.

And then it hit her again—

How did I just end up in front of someone like this… so suddenly?
