I didn't sleep.
I kept going over it in my head, trying to figure out how to say it. Every version sounded bad. Like I was making excuses before I'd even told him what happened.
There wasn't a good way to say, I had sex with your brother while I was not myself.
And if I waited any longer, someone else might tell him first. Whoever had been texting Reid, they'd twist it into something worse.
No. It had to come from me.
I found Rhys in his office a little after eight.
He was flipping through a folder for today's Assembly session. His reading glasses were pushed up on top of his head, and the coffee beside him looked like it'd been sitting there awhile.
He looked up when I walked in.
"Morning."
Then he smiled.
Just a normal smile.
That somehow made this a whole lot harder.
"Morning," he said. "You're up early."
"Couldn't sleep."
