My palms tightened around the edges of the gilded table, the veins in my arms popping so much that I could count the strands. Julian was a bastard— that I knew very well. But this? This was low even for him.
"Rose is missing, and you think it's a great time to act a fool?" I snarled, resisting the animalistic urge to lunge at him from across the table.
Julian threw his arms up in surrender. He wore that innocent facade he often put on and shook his head, muttering, "You can't even try to be the good guy around here anymore. What's this family gotten to?"
"He's trying to get under our skin. He knows the little one's importance, so he yearns to use this opportunity to ensnare you." Vane hissed with disdain.
I nodded internally and simply fixed my gaze elsewhere. Julian had always had the bad habit of trying to make everyone look bad, while he stood out as the sole stem of 'innocence' amidst the chaos.
