Chapter 45 Gu Yuena: Do I... look human now?
Gu Yuena realized her lapse in composure, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
"We... just want to survive."
She added softly, her voice revealing a hint of grievance that she herself was unaware of.
There were no accusations, no dredging up old grievances, and no questioning of the hundreds of thousands of years of grudges.
I just want to survive.
"Um."
Su Ling responded but did not say anything more.
But his calm response made Gu Yuena relax her tense body a little more.
She hesitated for a moment.
Then—
The scales on her body began to shimmer.
Tiny specks of light, like fireflies, first seeped out from between the scales.
The light grew brighter and brighter, eventually completely enveloping her dragon body.
At the center of the light dust, an outline is gradually unfolding.
No longer a winding dragon body, but a slender human figure.
Gu Yuena closed her eyes.
She knew what this gesture meant.
This is a gamble.
I'm betting that this mysterious, powerful, and incomprehensible being will be a little more patient with the "humanoid."
However--
Just as her scales had all fallen off and her human form had just begun to take shape.
Su Ling's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He didn't turn around.
But those eyes, reflecting the rise and fall of the Milky Way, glanced very slightly upwards for a moment.
The next moment—
"Buzz".
Douluo Continent.
Millions of eyes, fixed on the sky, only saw the image flicker violently without warning.
It felt like being gripped tightly by an invisible giant hand.
Immediately afterwards.
"Click".
It broke.
It's not a black screen, nor is it a signal interruption.
Real, spiderweb-like cracks spread wildly from the center of the sky.
In the blink of an eye, it covered the entire sky.
at last--
"Bang!"
It exploded completely, turning into countless fireflies.
[Warning! Unknown law interference detected!]
[Silver Dragon King's perspective live stream signal - forcibly interrupted!]
[Attempting to reconnect... Reconnection failed.]
Reconnection failed.
Reconnection failed.
The cold, mechanical voice of the sky curtain repeated itself three times, each time more urgent than the last, until finally revealing a hint of human-like trembling.
The entire Douluo Continent fell into a deathly silence.
Panic and speculation swept in like a tidal wave.
"What's going on?!"
"What happened to the Silver Dragon King?"
"How did the sky shatter?! Is she dead? Obliterated by that being?"
No one knows what happened behind that shattered light curtain.
...
Perfect World, Time-Space City.
Gu Yuena was completely unaware of all this.
Amidst the light and dust, her body is being reshaped.
Her long, silvery-white hair flowed like moonlight, cascading down from her head to her ankles.
Her skin was as white as moonlight shining on the first snow, delicate and flawless.
The outline gradually became clear.
Her collarbones were slender, and her shoulders were rounded.
The moonlight slid down the curves of her body, outlining a breathtaking arc on her chest.
Her waist was extremely slender, seemingly too delicate to be grasped, yet it unfolded a supple and full curve at the end.
Her legs were straight and long, and she stood barefoot in the light and dust. Her ankles were slender, and her toes were curled up slightly due to tension.
Finally, there's the face.
When the light and dust have completely dissipated—
Su Ling's gaze paused for a moment.
He had seen countless beauties, but the face before him... was different.
That is not simple beauty; its very existence makes ordinary "aesthetics" seem pale.
Like a contour meticulously sculpted by ice and snow, every detail is just right.
She blinked gently, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings.
Then, she lowered her head, looked at her naked body, and tilted her head slightly in a daze.
Her fallen silver hair barely covered her front.
"..."
Su Ling paused for a moment, then looked away.
It wasn't that he was tempted, but he felt that if he continued to stare, he might be unbecoming of himself.
"Put them on."
His voice remained calm, but his hand was already raised.
As light flowed from his fingertips, a garment appeared out of thin air.
The palace dress was moon-white, with wide sleeves that flowed like clouds, and the skirt was like smoke.
The fabric appears to be the finest silk, but upon closer inspection, one can see starlight flowing slowly within it.
He draped his coat over her shoulders.
Gu Yuena stared at him blankly as he draped a dress over her shoulders, lowered his eyes to fasten her waist sash, and then gently gathered her loose long hair from her collar.
He then withdrew his hand and turned away.
"Organize it yourself."
The voice was devoid of any emotion.
Gu Yuena looked down at her clothes.
"...nice."
She murmured softly, as if talking to herself.
Then, she turned and walked towards the pond next to her.
I crouched down and peered into the mirror-like water.
She tilted her head.
The reflection in the water also tilted its head.
She blinked.
The reflection blinked too.
She gently raised her hand and carefully touched her cheek.
A warm, soft touch came from my fingertips, carrying the delicate feeling of transformation and rebirth.
"I am now..."
She turned her head and looked at the blue figure that was still facing away from her.
The voice was soft, tinged with trepidation and anticipation.
Does it look like a human?
Su Ling: "..."
This feels a bit like a weasel begging for a title.
He lowered his eyes and looked at the small, upturned face in front of him.
Although she felt something was off, Su Ling nodded nonetheless.
"Um."
A single word, as light as a falling leaf into a deep pool.
Gu Yuena's eyes lit up instantly.
She tried hard to suppress it.
He tried to maintain the composure and dignity that the Silver Dragon King should have.
But the corners of her mouth still couldn't help but curl up slightly, forming a small, charming arc.
She lowered her head.
Her falling silver hair covered half her face, also concealing the smile that was about to burst forth.
"So... does that mean I won't be forced to be made into soup?"
She asked in a low voice.
His voice was filled with barely suppressed joy.
Her inner calculations were subtly making their own sounds.
Now that I've transformed into this human form, surely he won't be able to bring himself to eat me?
Su Ling looked into her eyes, which couldn't hide her thoughts, and sighed softly.
He raised his hand, his fingertips touching her chin.
Gu Yuena froze.
That hand was long and slender, slightly cool, and felt like cold jade.
He didn't use force, but simply lifted her face gently, forcing her to look him in the eye.
Those eyes, which seemed to reflect the rise and fall of stars, now lowered and gazed at her calmly.
"Believe me."
His voice was very soft.
"Your body is more precious than you think."
Gu Yuena stopped breathing.
My mind went completely blank.
Precious...my body...precious?
His fingertips were still there.
Through a thin layer of skin, she could clearly feel the slightly cool touch.
Does he have a crush on me?
This thought, like a spark that suddenly fell, landed with a "plop" in the dry, withered pile of wood that had been accumulating in her heart for hundreds of thousands of years.
—Does he want me?
Gu Yuena's cheeks suddenly burned.
The scalding heat spread uncontrollably from my neck all the way to my ears.
Even her long, silver hair couldn't hide the blush that quickly rose to her cheeks.
Her heart began to pound wildly.
One sound, faster than the last.
She opened her mouth.
His throat felt like it was blocked by soft cotton, and he couldn't squeeze out a single word.
But Su Ling had already let go.
His fingertips withdrew from her chin, taking with them the slightly cool, heart-stopping warmth.
