Later that evening, in the quiet sanctuary of the Royal Library, Xuan Ye sat alone with the Book of Fate. He was no longer adding words he was De-Coding the fundamental nature of the Finite World based on the logic he had unlocked during the Tribulation.

Xuan Ye touched a nearby jade scroll. Immediately, his consciousness was flooded with the Primordial Dreaming of the jade. He felt the millenia it spent beneath the earth, the pressure of the tectonic plates, the silent witness of the deep-sea vents.
The world is a consensus, Xuan Ye realized. The only reason the Law of Physics works is because the atoms are all whispering to each other, agreeing on what should be real.
If he could interrupt that whisper if he could introduce a Dissenting Opinion through his Void Script he wouldn't just be breaking the law. He would be rewriting the State of Being.
He reached into the air and grabbed a stray spark of Static Energy lingering from the storm. He didn't use Qi to suppress it. He spoke to the thing deeper within the spark.
"You are not fire," he whispered. "You are the memory of the Void."
The spark didn't extinguish. It transformed. It turned into a drop of black ink that carried the weight of a universe.

Suddenly, the door to the library creaked open. It wasn't the guards, and it wasn't the Princess.
It was Xuan Feng.
His cousin looked different. The arrogance was gone, replaced by a frantic, hollow-eyed desperation. He had reached the Golden Core, but the System in his head had gone silent ever since it had encountered Xuan Ye on the altar.
"Ye," Feng whispered, closing the door behind him. "I know you're not a scholar. I know the Ghost-Wail curse is a lie."
Xuan Ye didn't look up from his scroll. "The book say you've been signing in at the system for years, Feng. They say you've been collecting toys from a world you don't understand."
Feng flinched as if he had been struck. "How... how do you know about that? Even the Emperor can't detect the System!"
"I don't detect your System," Xuan Ye said, finally turning his gaze toward his cousin. His eyes were twin abysses. "I hear the very atoms of your Divine Weapons. They are vessels for a something that doesn't belong here. They feel like... typos in a very old book."
Xuan Feng fell to his knees. The power of a Golden Core master was useless against the Ontological Weight Xuan Ye was projecting.
"Help me," Feng choked out. "The System... it's trying to Reboot. It says the Narrative is unstable. It's trying to consume my Blood Essence to fix the error!"
Xuan Ye stood up and walked toward his cousin. He placed a hand on Feng's shoulder. To the world, it was a gesture of comfort. To the Collective, it was a Redaction.
"Your System is a subset of a larger infinity, Feng," Xuan Ye said softly. "It's a broken cup trying to measure a sea. Let me take the weight off your shoulders."
Xuan Ye's hand glowed with a faint, obsidian light. He wasn't stealing the System he was Unwriting its connection to the higher world. He was absorbing the Origin Data that fueled the Sign-In mechanic.

Xuan Feng let out a long, shuddering breath as the mechanical pressure in his brain vanished. He slumped forward, his cultivation dropping from Golden Core back to Foundation Establishment, but his soul finally feeling Real for the first time in years.
"It's gone," Feng whispered, tears hitting the floor. "The voice is gone."
"Go back to the clan, Feng," Xuan Ye said. "Tell them the Tribulation weakened you. Be a normal genius. Be a Part that is happy not being the Whole"
As Feng scrambled out of the room, Xuan Ye looked at his own palm. A small, golden gear the essence of the Sign-In System was floating in a pool of black ink.
"One more piece of the puzzle," Xuan Ye mused.
He looked toward the ceiling, toward the hidden layers of the Worlds above.
And Xuan Ye was the only one who could hear the echo of the Whole universe.
