Chapter 33 - A Changed World

The world didn't break.

It adjusted.

That was the first thing Aarav noticed.

He stood at the edge of the rooftop, looking down at the city below. Everything looked the same—people walking, vehicles moving, lights flickering across buildings.

Normal.

Too normal.

"…It's quieter," he said.

Mira stood beside him, arms crossed.

"…Again with that?"

Aarav didn't respond immediately.

Because this time—

It wasn't just a feeling.

Something had changed.

Not visibly.

Not physically.

But deeper.

"…The system is reacting," he said finally.

Mira frowned.

"…Reacting to what?"

Aarav's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…To us."

Silence.

That answer didn't comfort her.

If anything—

It made things worse.

The screen flickered in Aarav's vision.

Clear.

Stable.

But different.

Aarav smirked faintly.

"…There it is."

Mira stepped closer.

"…What happened?"

"…It updated."

"…That's normal."

"…Not like this."

He pointed slightly upward.

"…It didn't just update features."

He paused.

"…It updated behavior."

Across the city—

Things had already begun to change.

Awakened individuals moved differently.

More controlled.

More precise.

As if they were following stricter rules.

"…You feel it too, right?" Mira asked.

"…Yeah."

"…Like everything is being… watched more closely."

Aarav nodded.

"…Because it is."

Far away—

Inside a secured facility—

The organization was already active.

Screens filled with data.

Movement patterns.

Anomaly reports.

All increasing.

"…The frequency has doubled," a voice said.

"…And the system response is faster."

The leader stood in silence.

Watching.

Thinking.

"…It's adapting."

A pause.

"…Or correcting."

Back on the rooftop—

Aarav turned away from the city.

"…It didn't like what happened."

Mira raised an eyebrow.

"…That's an understatement."

"…No," Aarav said.

"…It didn't just react."

He looked at his hand.

"…It learned."

Silence.

Because that—

Was worse.

A faint distortion flickered.

So small—

Most wouldn't notice.

But Aarav did.

Immediately.

"…There."

Mira turned.

"…Where?"

"…Left side. Near the building edge."

She focused.

And then—

She saw it.

A small crack in the air.

Thin.

Sharp.

"…Another anomaly?" she asked.

Aarav shook his head.

"…No."

"…Too
