Molu, Loki and Crow stood upon the battlement of the southern wall, their gazes fixed upon the forest beyond the gates as at least a hundred goblins raced into the southern forest in teams of five. There were twenty teams in total, each tasked with bringing back as much livestock as possible.
Molu watched them disappear between the trees one group after another, his expression remaining firm despite knowing exactly what he had asked these goblins to do. They were desperate, and desperation had forced them to turn civilians into hunters simply because there were no longer enough trained warriors to shoulder the burden alone.
"Stand watch and stay on standby in case any returning team is being pursued." Molu said to Loki, and the young hobgoblin nodded without question.
Even if no one had asked him, he would have done that.
