Loki stood firm for only a moment longer, his eyes briefly shifting toward the goblins running up the slope. The situation there was steadily worsening.
The Mok tribe warriors had initially relied on their superior agility and combat experience to weave through the volleys of arrows raining down from above, twisting their bodies, knocking arrows aside with their weapons and using the uneven terrain as temporary cover.
However, the kobolds had the advantage of height and numbers, and every second the distance between the arrows became smaller as the defenders adjusted their aim. One goblin was struck through the thigh and stumbled, another took an arrow through the shoulder, and a third barely managed to keep moving after an arrow tore across his side.
Loki's gaze then returned to the corpses scattered across the farmland, and what he saw made the last hope in his chest slowly collapse.
