The eastern region was nothing like the lush southern forests Ka'z had grown up in. The further they traveled into the territory, the more unpleasant the landscape became.
Vegetation existed, but it was sparse, stunted, and strangely dirty, with thin patches of grass struggling to grow between stretches of exposed earth and jagged stone. Many of the trees looked sickly, their trunks twisted and their leaves dull compared to the thick green canopy they had left behind.
The land itself was uneven, rising and sinking without any obvious pattern. Some sections of ground dipped so deeply that pools of muddy water had formed inside them, while other parts rose several feet above the surrounding terrain, forcing the group to constantly adjust their path. It almost felt as though the eastern region had been violently torn apart in the distant past and never properly healed.
