Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Sisterhood in Shadows

==Lila==

Grandmother's words hung in the air like swamp mist.

The second howl is waking, child. But it will cost you everything you love.

I stood there naked in the clearing. Mud on my skin. Remy's hand still on my hip. My curves felt exposed under the moonlight. Heavy. Real. Dangerous.

Remy pulled me behind him. His body blocked the empty spot where Grandmother had been. "What did she mean?"

I shook my head. My throat felt tight. "I don't know."

He grabbed a shirt from the ground and handed it to me. I pulled it on fast. The fabric stretched across my full breasts and soft belly. It barely reached my thick thighs.

We walked back to the pack house in silence. The partial bond pulsed between us. Every step made my body brush against his side.

Inside, Remy locked me in the room again. But this time he left clothes. Real ones. A simple dress that hugged my wide hips and generous curves. I hated how good it felt to wear something that fit.

Morning came slow. I stayed in the room most of the day. Restless. Angry. The mark on my hip throbbed whenever I thought about Grandmother's warning.

Late afternoon Remy opened the door. "You have a visitor."

A girl stepped in behind him. She was curvy like me. Not slim like the others. Her hips were wide. Her belly soft. Scars marked her arms and one cheek. Old. Faded. But they told stories.

"I'm Mira," she said quietly. Her voice was calm. Steady.

Remy watched us for a second. Then he left. The door clicked shut.

Mira looked me up and down. Not judging. Just seeing. "Heard what happened at your birthday. And in the kitchen."

I crossed my arms over my chest. "Everyone heard."

She smiled a little. "They always do when it's us."

Us. The word felt strange. Good.

She sat on the edge of the bed. "You're trying to shrink yourself. I can tell. I did the same for years."

I sat beside her. My thick thighs pressed together. "What else am I supposed to do? They laugh. They stare."

Mira leaned closer. "You weaponize it. Softness isn't weak. It's heavy. It's ground. It can crush or it can hold. Your wolf knows that. She's bigger for a reason."

She took my hand. Placed it on my own soft belly. "Feel that? It's power. Not something to hide."

We talked for hours. She told me about her scars. A bad shift when she was younger. Elders who tried to make her smaller. She fought back quietly. Built her own strength.

For the first time since the rejection I felt seen. Not as the fat girl. Not as the mistake. Just as me.

Remy watched from the window outside. I caught his shadow once. He stood there. Arms crossed. Jaw tight. Jealousy flashed in his eyes when Mira made me laugh. Conflict twisted his face. He wanted to come in. He wanted to stay away.

The bond tugged at me. I ignored it.

Later Mira convinced me to go on a supply run for the bakery. "You need normal. Come on. I'll drive."

We slipped out the back. Remy was busy with pack business. We took the old truck. The road wound through the bayou toward town.

At the supply store I loaded flour and sugar into the cart. My curves moved naturally now. Less shame. More presence. Mira helped. We joked about how the bags looked small against our bodies.

Then it happened.

A human worker dropped a crate near us. Loud crash. My wolf surged without warning. Fur prickled along my arms. Claws pushed at my fingertips. My vision sharpened.

Not here. Not now.

Mira grabbed my arm. "Breathe. Ground it. Use the softness. Feel your weight. Hold it down."

I focused on my belly. My hips. The heavy comfort of my own body. The shift retreated. Barely.

But the human had seen something. His eyes widened. "What the hell was that?"

Mira pulled me toward the back. "We need to go. Now."

We hurried through the storeroom. Boxes stacked high. Dim light. My heart pounded. My curves felt too big for the narrow aisles.

Footsteps followed us. The human. Curious. Maybe scared.

We turned a corner. Dead end.

Before I could panic strong hands grabbed me from the side. Remy.

He yanked me into an empty storeroom. Door shut fast behind us. Mira stayed outside to block the human.

Remy pushed me against the wall. His body pressed close. Hard muscle against my soft curves. My full breasts met his chest. My soft belly touched his stomach. My thick thighs trapped between his legs.

His eyes burned into mine. Gold flecks showing.

Then he kissed me. Hard.

His mouth claimed mine. Hungry. Desperate. Years of watching from the edges poured into that kiss. My lips parted. I kissed him back. Heat flooded me. The bond sang.

For one perfect second nothing else existed. Just his hands on my wide hips. His tongue tasting mine. My curves melting against him.

Then he ripped away.

He stepped back. Breathing ragged. Eyes wild.

"This bond is going to get us both killed," he snarled.

His voice was raw. Broken.

I stood there. Lips swollen. Body still humming. The storeroom door rattled as someone tried the handle from outside.
