Chapter 2 - The AIRBNB HOST NEVER LEFT CHAPTER 2( THE thing inside)

Chapter 2: The Thing Inside

Daniel didn't move.

He couldn't.

The moment the shadow stepped into the room, something changed in the air.

It became heavier.

Harder to breathe.

Like the space itself was shrinking around him.

The figure stood just past the door now.

Still.

Watching.

Daniel's mind raced, trying to make sense of what he was seeing.

A person.

It had to be.

But something felt… off.

The way it stood.

Too straight.

Too still.

Like it wasn't breathing.

"Who are you?" Daniel asked, his voice tighter than he wanted.

No answer.

The figure didn't react.

Didn't blink.

Didn't move.

Daniel took another step back, his hand tightening around his phone.

"Did the host send you?" he tried again.

Still nothing.

His heartbeat pounded louder in his ears.

This wasn't normal.

Nothing about this was normal.

Then The figure moved.

Not forward.

Not backward.

But… its head tilted.

Slowly.

Too slowly.

As if it was studying him.

Learning him.

Daniel felt a cold sweat break across his skin.

"Okay… not funny," he muttered, more to himself than anything.

His thumb hovered over his phone screen.

Should he call someone?

The police?

Before he could decide

His phone buzzed again.

The same unknown number.

He didn't want to look.

But he did.

Don't let it get close.

His chest tightened.

Another message came immediately.

It doesn't like being seen.

Daniel's eyes snapped back up.

Too late.

The figure was closer now.

Much closer.

He hadn't heard it move.

Hadn't seen it take a step.

But it was no longer near the door.

It was halfway across the room.

Daniel stumbled back, nearly tripping over the edge of the bed.

"How did you?"

He stopped.

Because now he could see it better.

And what he saw made his stomach twist.

Its face…

Was wrong.

Not distorted.

Not bloody.

Just… empty.

Like a face someone tried to remember… and failed.

Eyes that didn't reflect light.

Skin that looked too smooth.

Too still.

Like it wasn't real.

Daniel's breathing became shallow.

Fast.

"Stay back," he said, his voice barely holding.

The figure tilted its head again.

Then—

It smiled.

A slow, unnatural stretch of something that wasn't quite a mouth.

Daniel's body reacted before his mind did.

He turned and rushed toward the door, grabbing it, yanking it open—

The hallway outside was just as dark.

No lights.

No sound.

Nothing.

He hesitated.

Just for a second.

Then His phone buzzed again.

Don't run into the hallway.

Daniel froze.

Behind him He felt it.

Closer.

Right behind him.

A presence that didn't breathe…

But existed.

He turned slowly.

Too slowly.

And found it standing there.

Right in front of him.

Closer than before.

Close enough to touch.

Its face inches from his.

That empty, unfinished face.

Watching him.

Waiting.

Then it spoke.

A voice that didn't sound human.

Didn't sound alive.

Didn't sound like anything that should exist.

"You opened the door."
