Caelan arrived at nine-oh-three.
Juno opened the door before he knocked, which meant Juno had been watching the street from the window, which Seren chose not to comment on.
"Caelan," Juno said.
"Juno." Caelan looked at him. "Thank you for letting me come."
Juno looked at him for a moment with the specific, assessing quality he reserved for people he was still deciding about.
Then he stepped back from the door.
"There's tea," he said. "I'm going to my room. I'll have my headphones in." He looked at Seren. "Shout if you need me."
He disappeared down the hallway.
The door closed.
Seren and Caelan stood in the small entrance of the apartment and looked at each other.
"Sit down," Seren said.
The kitchen table was exactly the same table it always was.
Slightly uneven on one leg. A ring from Juno's mug that had never fully come out. The folded statement still in Seren's bag, hanging on the chair back.
Caelan sat across from him.
