Chapter 47 - Chapter 47 — The Awakening Beyond Midnight

The abyssal chamber beneath Valthorin shook continuously beneath the overwhelming collision of celestial and abyssal forces, while enormous fractures spread through the ancient black walls like veins splitting apart beneath unbearable pressure, causing entire sections of stone carved during forgotten eras to collapse endlessly into the bottomless darkness below.

Dust and fragments of crystal drifted through the air like silver ash.

The twelve radiant swords floating behind the armored executioner illuminated the abyss with blinding brilliance, their divine radiance clashing violently against the black energy spiraling around Kael's body in massive waves of distortion that bent the surrounding space unnaturally.

Neither side moved.

Yet the chamber itself already felt as though it stood moments away from destruction.

Seraphine slowly wiped blood from the corner of her lips, her crimson eyes remaining fixed upon Kael with growing unease.

Something had changed.

Not merely his aura.

Not merely the darkness awakening beneath his skin.

But the way he stood.

The way he looked at the enemy before him.

The hesitation, confusion, and fear that once lingered within his expression had begun fading rapidly, replaced by an unsettling calmness that resembled the silence found within the deepest parts of the ocean moments before a catastrophic storm.

The armored man noticed it as well.

"The synchronization is accelerating," he murmured quietly.

One of the luminous swords behind him rotated slowly before pointing directly toward Kael's throat.

"We end this now."

BOOOOOM.

The platform beneath his feet exploded.

The executioner vanished instantly.

Kael's eyes widened.

Too fast.

Far beyond ordinary speed.

Even the surrounding air detonated from the sheer force of movement as the armored man appeared directly before him, his white cloak surging violently through the darkness while a sword forged from condensed silver light descended toward Kael's neck with enough power to divide the chamber itself.

Seraphine shouted immediately.

"MOVE!"

Yet Kael had already moved before hearing her voice.

Instinct.

Pure instinct.

His body twisted sideways unnaturally, narrowly avoiding the descending blade as the sword crashed against the platform behind him.

BOOOOOOM.

The impact obliterated nearly half the stone platform instantly.

Gigantic cracks erupted across the abyss while entire pillars collapsed downward into darkness.

Kael leapt backward through the exploding debris, breathing heavily as pain surged through his nervous system.

He could barely follow the man's movements.

If not for the strange instincts awakening inside him—

he would already be dead.

The armored executioner observed him silently.

Then another sword disappeared.

Kael's pupils contracted.

This time he sensed death approaching from behind.

He turned instantly.

A radiant blade pierced through the darkness directly toward his skull like a beam of divine judgment.

Kael raised his arm instinctively.

BOOOOM.

The sword collided against a barrier of black energy that erupted from his hand at the last possible moment.

Shockwaves exploded outward violently.

The force hurled Kael backward across the platform, his body crashing through ancient pillars before finally skidding to a halt near the edge of the abyss.

Blood dripped from his mouth.

His entire arm trembled violently.

Yet the sword had failed to pierce the darkness protecting him.

For the first time, the armored man's expression became visibly grim.

"A defensive manifestation already…"

Seraphine stared silently at Kael.

No ordinary vessel should have adapted this quickly.

No human should have survived even a single strike from one of the Twelve Judgment Blades.

Yet Kael continued standing.

The black aura surrounding him thickened further.

The darkness now resembled living flames crawling endlessly around his body, while faint crimson symbols slowly emerged across his skin like ancient runes awakening from dormancy.

Then—

the voice returned.

"They are weak."

Kael clenched his teeth.

The whisper no longer sounded distant.

It sounded close.

Far too close.

"They sealed you because they feared you."

Fragments of impossible memories flooded his mind once more.

Worlds burning beneath black suns.

Gigantic celestial beings screaming as darkness consumed their bodies.

An enormous throne suspended within infinite space.

And sitting upon that throne—

himself.

"No…" Kael muttered painfully, gripping his head.

The voice softened.

"You already know the truth."

Suddenly—

the armored man attacked again.

Three swords vanished simultaneously.

The surrounding space distorted violently as streaks of silver light crossed the abyss faster than thought itself, each blade targeting a lethal point—heart, throat, skull.

Kael's instincts erupted wildly.

Time itself seemed to slow.

He could see the swords approaching.

Barely.

His body moved automatically.

One blade passed inches beside his face.

Another scraped across his shoulder, tearing through flesh and exploding against the wall behind him.

But the third—

The third pierced directly toward his chest.

Kael's eyes widened.

Too late.

Then darkness exploded outward.

A gigantic black hand composed entirely of abyssal energy emerged from the shadows behind Kael, catching the radiant sword before it could pierce his body.

Silence filled the chamber.

Even the executioner froze briefly.

The enormous shadowy hand tightened slowly around the divine blade.

CRACK.

The sword shattered.

Seraphine's breathing stopped.

"That's impossible…"

The Twelve Judgment Blades were divine constructs forged by Celestial Sovereigns themselves.

Even ancient dragons could not destroy them.

Yet the darkness protecting Kael had crushed one effortlessly.

The armored man's golden eyes narrowed dangerously.

"The Eclipse Authority…"

For the first time since arriving, genuine hostility radiated from him without restraint.

The remaining swords behind him began glowing intensely.

"You are already too dangerous to remain alive."

The entire chamber trembled violently.

Silver light erupted outward from the executioner in colossal waves, illuminating the abyss like a newborn sun while incomprehensible symbols spread across the air itself.

Seraphine immediately recognized the technique.

Her face paled.

"No… he's using a Dominion Art…"

Kael looked upward.

The world around him suddenly changed.

The abyss disappeared.

The darkness vanished.

He now stood beneath an endless silver sky filled with floating swords stretching infinitely beyond the horizon.

A separate dimension.

A domain.

The armored man floated high above him like a divine judge overlooking a condemned sinner.

"Within my Dominion," he declared coldly, his voice echoing across the infinite silver void, "all things are severed."

Tens of thousands of swords slowly materialized across the sky.

Kael's heartbeat slowed.

Not from calmness.

From realization.

He could not survive this.

Even his instincts screamed hopelessly.

The executioner raised one hand.

Every sword pointed downward simultaneously.

"Perish."

The heavens fell.

Countless blades descended like divine meteors, tearing apart reality itself as they rained toward Kael with apocalyptic force.

The entire silver world trembled beneath the storm of destruction.

Seraphine screamed his name from somewhere distant.

Yet Kael stood motionless.

Not because he accepted death.

But because something inside him had finally awakened completely.

The whisper returned one final time.

"Then show them."

Darkness swallowed his vision instantly.

The silver world vanished.

The falling swords vanished.

Everything vanished.

Then—

Kael opened his eyes.

Except they were no longer silver.

They had become completely black.

An endless darkness deeper than the abyss itself.

The surrounding void trembled violently.

Far away, the executioner's expression finally changed into genuine shock.

"What…?"

Behind Kael—

something emerged.

At first it resembled a shadow.

Then wings.

Gigantic wings composed of endless darkness unfolded slowly behind him, each one so enormous they seemed capable of covering the sky itself.

The silver domain cracked instantly.

CRRRRACK.

The raining swords shattered one after another before even touching him.

The executioner immediately stepped backward for the first time.

Impossible pressure flooded the dimension.

Ancient.

Absolute.

Terrifying.

Kael slowly lifted his head.

The black eyes staring toward the executioner no longer resembled human eyes at all.

They resembled cosmic voids.

And when he finally spoke—

two voices echoed simultaneously.

One belonged to Kael.

The other belonged to something infinitely older.

"You dare…"

The entire silver domain trembled violently.

"…raise a weapon against me?"

BOOOOOOOOOOM.

The Dominion shattered.

The abyssal chamber returned instantly as an explosion of darkness erupted outward with catastrophic force, obliterating pillars, platforms, and entire sections of the underground world.

The executioner was hurled backward across the chamber, crashing through ancient walls before stopping himself midair using several radiant swords.

Blood dripped from his mouth.

His eyes widened with disbelief.

The being standing amidst the exploding darkness below no longer resembled the boy he came to execute.

Kael floated several feet above the shattered platform while endless black energy spiraled around him like living storms.

The gigantic shadow wings behind him slowly moved once.

The mere motion caused reality itself to distort.

The Abyssal Sentinels immediately knelt once more.

Not from command.

From instinctive submission.

Even the obelisk trembled.

Seraphine stared silently, unable to hide the fear within her crimson eyes anymore.

Because the aura flooding the abyss now matched the descriptions written only within forbidden texts sealed by ancient civilizations.

The aura of the being who once nearly destroyed existence itself.

The Final Eclipse.

And somewhere far beyond the abyss…

far beyond kingdoms and mortal lands…

inside a forgotten throne room drifting within the darkness between worlds—

an ancient figure slowly opened its eyes.
