The line went silent and for a few seconds neither of them spoke
Scarlett could hear Michael breathing heavily on the other end, but she refused to fill the silence for him
She had spent the entire weekend trying to protect her peace and fill a void she had lost for four and a half years when she watched Tyler and Tia laugh while they discovered little things about her and watched them call her mum without holding back
And Michael hasn't stopped to ruin the perfect weekend for her and even now, barely minutes after she had watched them leave, he was demanding an answer from her as if her life was a deadline on a calendar
"I really didn't expect you to say that", Michael finally spoke

"You didn't expect me to say that but I should have expected you to threaten me?", Scarlett said firmly
