Chapter 82 - Wrong Timing, Right People

Scene 1: A Rare Kind of Silence

Aditya's apartment was unusually quiet.

Not the comfortable kind of quiet.

The suspicious kind.

Ayaan sat on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, scrolling through something on his phone. Calm. Controlled. As always.

Ishaan stood near the window, hands in his pockets, gaze fixed outside—but clearly listening to everything inside.

Aditya leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.

"…This feels wrong," he said.

Ayaan didn't look up.

"What does?"

Aditya:

"No chaos. No interruptions. No… noise."

Ayaan:

"Enjoy it while it lasts."

Ishaan added quietly—

"It won't."

As if summoned by fate itself—

Knock. Knock.

Aditya closed his eyes for a second.

"…There it is."

Ayaan didn't react.

Ishaan almost smirked.

Aditya stood up slowly.

"Let me guess," he muttered. "This is about to get worse."

Scene 2: The Door Opens

Aditya opened the door.

Kriti stood there.

Bright. Energetic.

Suspiciously excited.

"…You look like you're about to cause a problem," Aditya said flatly.

Kriti grinned.

"Wow. You really know me."

Before he could respond—

She stepped forward—

And in one swift, impulsive movement—

She jumped slightly, grabbed his shoulders—

And kissed him.

Quick.

Direct.

Completely unexpected.

Scene 3: Processing Failure

For a split second—

Aditya froze.

Not because he didn't understand what happened.

But because—

this was Kriti.

And this was not normal.

"…Kriti—"

He tried to turn his head slightly—

instinctively—

toward the living room.

"…you should—"

But she tightened her hold.

"No. Don't move."

Aditya went still.

"…You need to move."

Kriti:

"I'm having a moment."

Aditya:

"You're having a situation."

Scene 4: The Realization

Then—

something clicked.

Aditya wasn't reacting normally.

He wasn't teasing.

He wasn't even fully responding.

Kriti frowned slightly.

"…Why are you being weird?"

She followed his line of sight.

Turned her head.

And saw them.

Ayaan.

Ishaan.

Watching.

Silently.

Judging.

Observing.

Kriti froze.

Completely.

"…Oh."

Scene 5: Immediate Regret

She slowly let go of Aditya.

Very slowly.

Took one step back.

Then another.

"…I can explain."

Silence.

Ayaan raised one eyebrow.

Ishaan said nothing.

Which was somehow worse.

Aditya closed the door behind her.

"…You should explain," he said calmly.

Kriti pointed at him immediately.

"This is his fault."

Aditya:

"I opened the door."

Kriti:

"Exactly. Poor decision-making."

Ayaan:

"That explains everything."

Kriti:

"Thank you."

Aditya:

"That explains nothing."

Kriti:

"I acted emotionally."

Ishaan finally spoke—

"That was clear."

Kriti looked at him.

"…You're not helping."

Scene 6: Attempted Escape

Kriti turned toward the door.

"I'm leaving."

Aditya caught her wrist—not tightly, just enough.

"No."

Kriti:

"Why not?"

Aditya:

"You started something."

Kriti:

"I want to end something."

Aditya:

"Too late."

She groaned.

"This is humiliating."

Aditya:

"This is accurate."

Kriti:

"I regret everything."

Aditya:

"You didn't look like it ten seconds ago."

Kriti:

"That was past me. I've grown since then."

Ayaan:

"In ten seconds?"

Kriti:

"I evolve fast."

Scene 7: No Mercy

Kriti finally gave up trying to escape and walked inside.

"…Fine. I'll stay. But no one talks about this."

Ayaan:

"That's not possible."

Ishaan:

"It already happened."

Kriti:

"You both are emotionally unavailable and socially dangerous."

Aditya:

"You forgot 'accurate.'"

Kriti sat down—dramatically.

"This is the worst day of my life."

Aditya sat beside her.

"You said that yesterday."

Kriti:

"I'm consistent."

Scene 8: A Small Truth Slips Out

Silence settled for a moment.

Not awkward—

just… heavy with everything unsaid.

Kriti stared at the floor.

Then muttered—

quietly—

"…I didn't completely hate it."

Aditya heard.

Of course he did.

He turned slightly toward her.

"…That wasn't obvious."

Kriti looked at him.

"…Don't make it worse."

Aditya:

"I'm not."

A pause.

Then—

calm.

"…I didn't either."

Kriti blinked.

"…You're serious?"

Aditya:

"Yes."

Kriti stared at him—

processing.

Then looked away quickly.

"…This is getting worse again."

Aditya:

"It's getting clearer."

Final Scene: No Going Back

The room settled again.

But not like before.

Because now—

everything had shifted.

Ayaan leaned back slightly—

observing.

Ishaan returned to silence—

but aware.

Kriti sat there—

embarrassed.

Confused.

And a little… happy.

Aditya remained beside her—

calm.

Unmoved.

But not distant.

Some moments weren't planned.

Some couldn't be stopped.

And some—

no matter how embarrassing—

were exactly what they needed.
