Chapter 4 - Chapter III

I ate quietly while listening to their conversation.

After the ceremony, a grand feast was immediately held for the arrival of my siblings. And now, the king and queen are asking them about their activities at the academy.

"I've already coordinated with the crown prince of Pangaea for our forces in their empire, father. That way, whenever danger will arise, our forces will be always there to protect the borders," Aamon said respectfully to the king.

"Good, maintain the stronghold of our forces in the borders. We wouldn't want the dark continent to wreck another havoc. As soon as possible, no war shall happen again in both the continents."

If the world in my past life was called Earth, here it is Pangaea. Similar to Alfred Wegener's theory in my second life, Continental Drift, there was a supercontinent called Pangaea that broke apart due to the movement of tectonic plates. The same happened in the world I'm living in now. But not because of tectonic plates, but because of a war that happened a long time ago.

Pangaea was once whole, and the gods and people living in this world were in harmony. But there was a god who craved more power and was greedy. He could not accept that Zeus, the god of all, ruled Pangaea. He was Thanatos, the god of darkness. In his anger and jealousy, he gathered his companions to declare war against Zeus. Many gods and people sided with Zeus, but there were also powerful gods and people who sided with Thanatos.

A great war occurred, many gods and people perished until only four gods remained in Zeus's camp and other powerful individuals. All of Thanatos's companions died. This led the creator of galaxies, who created gods and people, Chaos, to descend to earth. In his anger, he split the land and separated Thanatos from Zeus. Because of that event, Pangaea was divided into two: the Pangaea ruled by Zeus, and the Pangaea now called the dark continent or Tartaros, ruled by Thanatos.

From then on, the gods became silent. They taught people how to use their powers. Until the number of people increased, and empires were formed for the five remaining gods and goddesses. Water, the empire of Alsepius, which worships the god Amanikable. Earth, the empire of Fauna, which worships the merciful goddess Anitun Lupa. Fire, the empire of Balaak, which worships the sleeping Lakambakod. Air, the empire of Lereio, which worships the god Hangin. And finally, light, the empire of Olympus, which rules all of Pangaea and worships Zeus.

"How about you Zen, how are our forces inside the Fauna?"

"All of it are already been taken care of, father," Zen said coldly but respectfully to his father. "I've talked to the crown prince about strengthening the power barriers."

"That's good."

"Now, about that father... It's been a year since I had a talk with the two of my sisters." Aamon smiled at Lily and me. Joy filled my heart because I knew he truly loved us siblings.

"How are you, Ophelia?" Kuya Aamon said tenderly. "How is your body?"

I noticed the atmosphere at the table change. I just smiled even though I knew the reason. The queen looked away as if pretending to be deaf, while my other siblings seemed indifferent. Lily, on the other hand, was rolling her eyes at me, while my father just stared at us.

"I'm fine, Aamon." I grimaced. "Brother Aamon. I'm just recovering, but I'll be returning to the academy this year."

He smiled, revealing his dimples. My brother is truly handsome, and it's as if there are flowers around him. "Good, don't force yourself if you're not well yet, alright?" I just nodded at my brother.

"And you, Lily, how are you?" Aamon turned to Lily. I raised an eyebrow because, as far as I knew, Lily didn't get into the academy last year because she had a bullying case. A truly embarrassing incident for this family.

I even saw Lily swallow, but she forced a smile at her brother. "I'm fine, kuya, I'll be back too--"

Zen cut off what she was about to say. "Don't go back if you'll just bring shame to the academy." He said coldly and put down the water he was drinking from his goblet.

Aamon immediately reprimanded him, but Blair and Emerald egged him on, causing Lily to look down in embarrassment. She was looking down, and I could see her fists clenching. "Brother Zen--"

"Enough." A gentle voice interrupted everything. Helena looked at Zen. "Brother Zen, it's not Lily's fault. She will change, and I know she has learned from what she did, right, sister?" Helena said innocently, causing me to look at Lily's reaction.

I almost laughed. She was biting her lip, suppressing her annoyance, and it seemed unnoticed by everyone because they were still looking at Zen. Lily seemed to be angry at Helena too, but I couldn't understand the source of her anger.

"Yes, of course." Lily just nodded despite the anger within her. I just shook my head and immediately finished eating. I didn't know it was fun to watch scenes like this.

"How about you, Ophelia? If you want to return to the academy, I can share your dorm." It seemed like Helena was now paying attention to me. Her innocent eyes were fixed on me as if she was 'truly' worried.

I felt annoyed deep inside. I really dislike her presence, especially since we don't have a good relationship, but she acts as if we are close.

"Forgive me, but why would you accompany me, Helena?" I said cooly, which stopped her. "As far as I know, we aren't close enough to share a room? It's a miracle you even thought of that, but I'm no longer a child to be accompanied."

I saw her get embarrassed and bowed her head. This drew reactions from the family, and they turned their anger towards me.

"Your mouth, Ophelia, it never stops," the queen said, her eyes glaring at me. "Don't speak to your sister like that!"

I saw Helena's tears well up, and she hugged the twins, who glared at me. "We were gone, and your tongue must have gotten too long, Ophelia? Our sister is speaking properly, and you do that? How rude!" Blair snapped.

"And was I asking for your opinions? Don't be foolish." I said calmly. "I was just answering my sister's question, how did that become rude? Do we have the same hearing? Or are you just deaf?"

Everyone fell silent. I took this opportunity to leave, stood up, and wiped my mouth. "I don't want to eat anymore, I'm finished. Thank you very much for that wonderful meal."

"Ophelia." The king warned but I will stay firm in my decision. I don't want to eat with people who don't even treat me the way I want to be treated.

I shouldn't even hoped that this family would change. No matter how I don't like it, they will remain indifferent to me. No matter how hard I try to get their attention, they won't notice everything I've done. So I am doing them a favor, if this is what they wished. I no longer associate myself with them.
