Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Descent to the Empire!

Akame ga Kill! World

Imperial Capital of the Millennium Empire

Hum—

In a dark, damp alley, space twisted into a blood-red vortex. A tall, slender figure stepped out, his pristine cloak starkly out of place amid the filth.

"So this is the new world…"

Uchiha Tobirama's boots touched the wet stone. He closed his eyes, and an immense perception spread outward in silent waves, swallowing the capital whole—its bustling avenues, lofty palaces, starving slums, and the hidden chambers where crimes festered beyond sight.

When he opened his eyes, a faint, cold smile formed.

"A glittering shell. Rotten to the core."

He walked out of the alley and merged into the crowd. There was no need to summon armies yet. For conquest to be clean, one first had to understand the stain.

Ahead, near a lavish carriage bearing a noble crest, two girls stood.

One wore simple country clothes, a longbow on her back. Dusty from travel, her eyes were earnest and unguarded—Sayo, newly arrived and already adrift in the capital.

Opposite her stood a young noblewoman in an elegant dress, blond hair neatly arranged, her smile gentle and reassuring.

"Are you sure, Miss Aria?" Sayo asked, clasping her hands. "I was robbed and separated from my companion… You'd really help someone like me?"

"Of course," Aria replied softly. "The capital can be dangerous. Our family often shelters travelers. Please, come with me. You'll be safe."

Sayo's face lit up with relief as she stepped toward the carriage.

Tobirama stopped.

The timing was precise—the opening move of a familiar tragedy. A naïve kindness on the surface; something far darker beneath.

He stepped forward.

"Excuse me."

Aria turned, her practiced smile faltering for the briefest instant when she met his gaze—silver hair, crimson eyes, an air of authority impossible to mistake.

"I'm newly arrived," Tobirama said calmly. "Separated from my attendants. I heard you're offering aid. May I impose for a short stay? I'll repay the kindness once I contact my people."

Aria recovered instantly, her composure flawless.

"Of course. We would be honored," she said, bowing with perfect etiquette. "Please, join us."

Sayo, reassured by the presence of another traveler, climbed aboard as well.

Inside the carriage, Aria made polite conversation, asking about travels and customs. Tobirama answered sparsely, his gaze steady, unreadable.

So this is how you lure them, he thought. A smile, a promise, and a closed door.

The carriage rolled through the capital toward the noble district, spires rising like teeth against the sky.

Aria watched him from the corner of her eye, confidence growing with every turn of the wheel.

Unseen by her, Tobirama's expression never changed.

You think you've drawn prey into your web, he thought. But tonight, the web will burn.

The carriage disappeared into the streets, carrying its passengers toward a reckoning the capital had long avoided.
