The heavy oak doors of the villa slammed shut behind us, sealing out the howling wind and the relentless, driving rain. The grand foyer was warm, brightly lit by the massive crystal chandelier overhead, but the pleasant atmosphere did nothing to ease the suffocating pressure in my chest.
"We need to double the guards on the eastern wall," Marcus muttered under his breath, his large frame dripping water onto the polished marble floor. He ran a hand over his face, his jaw tight with exhaustion. "If Boris managed to track our route down that highway, he knows exactly which direction we headed when we broke the line.
