Chapter 36 - chapter 35

Chapter 35: Confession

Zein's Point of View...

"He is fine. He just needs a little rest." Nurse Cha greeted us, and behind her was Supremo, looking straight at me.

While the treatment was ongoing, Supremo was also inside to make sure Matt was actually treated.

"Can we see him?" Jerome asked.

"Ah. Yes." Nurse Cha stepped aside, and everyone went in except for Nurse Cha, Supremo, and me.

"Excuse me," he excused himself before rushing out. So it was just me and Supremo there.

"Thank you." I thanked him for what he did, looking into his eyes with a questioning look.

"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly, pulling me close to examine every part of my body.

I couldn't help but smile at how much Supremo worried.

"Hey! Why are you smiling?! Tell me where it hurts."

I held his hand to calm him down from overreacting.

"I am. Matt protected me," I replied.

He turned his back on me to leave. "Matt must be so lucky to have you as a friend." he said lifelessly, still facing away from me.

Lucky?

"I don't think so." I replied bitterly.

I broke my promise to him. I should have trusted him. I broke the promise that I would trust him.

"Yes he is. Can I also be lucky?"

My forehead furrowed, but he remained with his back to me.

"Can I have the luck of being with you? Please. Give me a chance, Zein."

He quickly vanished into the darkness. My previously dropped jaw was replaced with a sweet smile.

You don't need to please. You already have me.

I went inside and found Matt still asleep with a bandage on his arm and bruises on his body. I almost felt weak seeing Matt's condition, a condition that wouldn't be there if I had only trusted him.

"Don't blame yourself." Dave whispered softly to me.

Only now did I notice that they were all looking at me.

My previously tight chest loosened slightly when I saw their smiles at me. I couldn't measure how lucky I am to have them.

I sat next to Matt and held his cheek which had wounds. I felt tears fall from my eyes.

"I-I'm still sorry, Matt. Sorry. Can you forgive me? Please."

I clenched my fist and just bowed my head. I still couldn't help but hate myself. I should have believed him! Damn, Zein!

I felt Jerome grab my shoulder to comfort me. "Stop crying. He's not dead yet." he joked, which made Vanessa smack him.

"Do you want me to kill you first?" Vanessa snapped at him.

"Why are you so mad at me?! What did I do-Ouch!" Vanessa pinched his ear, which made us laugh.

Jerome was bruised all over by Vanessa, but I couldn't see any intention from Jerome to retaliate. He was even smiling despite the bruising.

"Have faith, Zein." Mia said, kneeling on the floor with her palms together, looking up.

Dave followed her. "Let's have faith." he added,

looking at Mia. "Let's love each other." he said while looking at Mia, which made Mia turn her head. "H-Huh?"

Dave quickly looked away and focused upwards. "Let's have faith." he retrieved, which made me laugh.

Damn! These witches and warlocks really know how to take away sadness.

We were laughing when Matt suddenly moaned, so we looked at him. "What hurts?! Matt! Are you okay?!" I asked worriedly.

"O-Ouch Zein. My arm, you sat on it."

I quickly stood up when I realized I had sat on his

wounded arm.

"S-Sorry." I said shyly.

"Good thing you decided to open your eyes." Jerome said laughingly, his hair messy.

Vanessa was just holding back her laughter looking at him.

"Huh?" Mia asked confused.

"You've been awake for a while. You just wanted to sit next to Zein so you didn't open your eyes." Dave teased, bursting into laughter.

A blushing Matt threw a pillow at Dave, who quickly dodged it. "Ahh!" he howled, forcing his arm when he threw it.

"Don't move first!" I snapped at him before helping him sit up.

His grin wouldn't leave his face and I felt like hitting him with a pillow. What's there to smile about? Psh.

"We're going out for a bit, okay?" Vanessa said, which I nodded to. I understood what she said so I just smiled.

"Huh? I don't want to! Just here-"

"Don't be stubborn." Vanessa pulled Jerome out while Dave and Mia just followed them.

Minutes had passed since they left and Matt and I still weren't talking.

"Sorry," I looked at him when he spoke. "Sorry because I kept secrets from you, from all of you. Sorry because I had to hide everything." he said bitterly.

Shaking my head, I sat next to him. "No. I should be the one apologizing." I swallowed before continuing to speak. "I promised to trust you but I broke it. Sorry if I accused you. Sorry because I destroyed -" I couldn't stop my tears from falling.

I felt the bed move before I felt Matt's hand wrap around my hand.

"I understand, Zein. I'm not hurt. You know what hurts?" I looked up and looked into his sad eyes. "It hurts to see the woman I love crying." he added.

My brain stopped working for a moment and something went through it. My eyes remained looking at Matt questioningly.

"W-What are you talking about?" I asked confused.

I couldn't understand even though what he said was short. Did I really not understand or did I not want to understand?

"But I know someone has already caught your heart. I know it's him." He touched my cheek to wipe the tear there. "I am happy for you. Finally." he added almost whispering.

I had felt for a long time that Matt treated me differently, but I ignored everything because I thought it was just as a friend, but-Shit.

"I don't want to be selfish to fight for you when I know in the end I'll still lose. But, just promise me that you will never cry again. I'm okay with that."

"Matt."

"Promise me, Zein. It will only hurt me more if I see you cry again. Promise me, even if it's just as your closest friend."

Crying, I nodded before hugging Matt tightly. Sorry Matt, I can't return your love but I promise that our friendship will never fade.

We are forever friends, Matt. Promise.

A few days had passed since that happened and nothing else had changed. We are still the same, the usual us.

"Where is Supremo?" I asked Vice Onel.

Supremo's table was empty and had been for a few days now.

"Headmistress called him." He replied.

I just nodded before heading to Supremo's table and tidying up the scattered papers. That guy is always messy. I don't even know if I'm his secretary or his personal assistant.

I felt a presence behind me so I quickly turned around and was met by Supremo who was frowning.

"Why are you here? It's lunch time." He said with a frown.

I pouted as I remembered that my friends' lunch break was a while ago and they were now in class.

I don't want to eat alone because it's hard to swallow. I'm used to having them with me in everything. I don't know, it's like I've become dependent on them.

"I'm not hungry yet-" My stomach grumbled, almost melting me.

Supremo raised an eyebrow before pulling me out of the SSG office.

"You shouldn't skip meals! Eat on time!" He lectured me like a father.

"Eh, I don't have an appetite!" I retorted.

"Shut up."

I smirked into the void again. I never get a decent answer from Supremo. Everything always ends with "shut up".

He seated me at one of the tables and sat next to me. A waiter approached us and took our order.

"Why all pork? Wait! Why did you choose?!"

"Because I am the President."

"FYI! We are living in a democratic countr-"

"Shut up."

Huh! Fuck you! UGH!

Our orders arrived and I almost recoiled at the steaks I saw. Not that I don't like these things but DUH! I am on a diet.

Supremo put some on my plate but I just stared at it. Eh! My hard-earned shape might get ruined because of this.

"The food won't walk to your mouth."

"But, Supremo! I prefer leafy foods."

"You didn't say that, otherwise I would have fed you Bermuda grass."

What?!

"Sup-" My words were cut off when he put the spoon to my mouth.

"You are so loud." He pulled my chair next to him. He took my plate and got some food from it.

I turned my gaze away when he put the spoon to my mouth.

"Eat it or else...."

What?

"I'll eat you."

My eyes widened and my mouth gaped because of what he said. He took that chance to put the contents of the spoon into my mouth and I almost choked in surprise.

"Liked it?" He teased, even smirking at me.

"I'll do it myself!" I irritably took the plate from him and composed myself.

My face was bright red because of what he did and what he said.

But why did I feel that way? Like I wanted to stop eating so he would continue with the "else" he was talking about. Ewww, Zein. Yuck.

After we ate, Supremo left me so I went to my next subject.

Third Person Point of View...

"Supremo. I didn't do it-"

"You better make sure, Nazzer Lumia."

Nazzer smirked at him but Supremo remained calm, just looking at him.

"How's Supremo? Just one more wrong move. Say goodbye to your position." He threatened.

Supremo had no reaction and continued to look at Nazzer.

"Aren't you scared, Supremo? If you lose your position, you won't be able to protect her anymore." He laughed softly at what he said.

A smirk escaped Supremo's lips. "I'm not scared." He replied bravely.

"Well, you should be scared now. I know your secret, Supremo."

Supremo frowned at what he said which made Nazzer's smirk widen.

"Aren't you wondering why Raze is so quiet? I already killed his brother but he's still quiet."

Supremo turned around and started walking away. Nazzer tightly clenched his fist in anger.

"Why don't you ask him instead?"

"Your downfall is near, Supremo. Go ahead. Just get closer to Zein. It makes everything easier"
