Chapter 315 - A Battle of Luck

Chapter 315: A Battle of Luck

Venti's emerald eyes crinkled with amusement, as if he could already peer into the distant future. He pictured a rather absurd, yet entirely plausible scene: Lumine, armed with nothing but her raw, unadulterated strength, blinding speed, and impenetrable defense, casually sweeping through entire legions of monsters without breaking a sweat.

The Anemo Archon then shifted his gaze toward Paimon. The little floating companion was currently tilting her head, her brow furrowed in deep concentration as she tried to decipher the exact meaning of the term Stat Monster. A distinctly playful, almost mischievous smile tugged at the corners of Venti's lips.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" Venti clapped his hands together, his voice light and breezy. "You also have our dearest Little Paimon traveling with you! That Star Paimon of hers, the one capable of literally freezing time itself, is simply an unreasonable Mechanics Monster!"

He leaned forward, gesturing grandly. "Think about it! A Stat Monster who will inevitably overwhelm any opponent with sheer physical attributes in the future, perfectly paired with a Mechanics Monster possessing absolute, unbreakable control over time..."

Spreading his hands wide, Venti concluded his assessment with a dramatic, operatic flair. "It seems your future journeys across the stars will hardly encounter a single obstacle worthy of being called a challenge. It will be nothing but smooth sailing from here on out!"

Paimon blinked. She only half-understood gaming concepts like Stat Monster and Mechanics Monster, but she wasn't completely dense. Judging by the bard's overly enthusiastic expression and the dramatic lilt in his voice, she could easily deduce that he was showering both her and Lumine with immense praise.

A rosy blush quickly crept across her small cheeks. She scratched the back of her head, giggling shyly before frantically waving her tiny hands in a display of feigned, exaggerated modesty.

"Hehe, no, no, Venti, you're totally exaggerating!" she squeaked, puffing out her chest despite her words. "We're really not that amazing!"

While the trio stood atop Mondstadt's towering clock tower, casually discussing the limitless potential of the Anvil of Growth, the dimensional Chat Group was already descending into absolute chaos. A brand-new round of Luck comparisons had officially begun.

Having just completed the highly important task of mailing the Gene Lock directly to Firefly, Stelle was practically vibrating with high spirits. The chaotic Trailblazer immediately seized the initiative, charging into the group chat to aggressively show off and compare everyone's loot from this latest round of draws.

[Stelle]: "Haha, just as I expected, my Gene Lock clearly has the absolute greatest potential! It excavates a person's life potential from the inside out, unlocks hidden genetic treasures, and provides a path of evolution that directly points to the very origin of life! @All Members, I dare you to tell me who else drew something even more powerful than that?"

Her bold declaration acted like a spark in a powder keg. Notifications flooded the screen as numerous group members eagerly chimed in, proudly sharing descriptions of the various blue and green-tier items they had managed to pull. The virtual atmosphere buzzed with lively, competitive energy.

Lumine didn't even need to lift a finger to defend her honor. The fiercely competitive Paimon immediately jumped into the fray, virtually waving a massive flag for her blonde companion.

[Genshin Impact - Paimon]: "Stelle! That Gene Lock of yours sounds super dangerous! Lumine's Anvil of Growth is still the absolute best! She can literally get stronger just by lying in bed and doing absolutely nothing every single day! A steady, guaranteed increase! That's way more practical!"

[Stelle]: "Little Paimon, you just don't understand the thrill of the gamble! High risk equals high reward! Besides, who said the Gene Lock is definitely dangerous? Maybe my dear Firefly is just exceptionally talented and will blast straight through to the fourth stage in one go! How can a tiny, boring improvement every day possibly compare to the adrenaline rush of instant, explosive evolution?"

[Genshin Impact - Paimon]: "Wrong! Accumulating a little bit of power every single day is the true king's way! Lumine is going to become the most solid, unbreakable warrior in the entire universe!"

[Stelle]: "I firmly believe Firefly will also become an Emanator-level powerhouse! And besides all that combat stuff, I also got a magical outfit-changing camera! Do you even understand the concept of versatility?"

[Genshin Impact - Paimon]: "Hmph! Well, Paimon also got a super rare appraisal skill! I'm going to help Lumine identify every single hidden treasure we ever come across in the future!"

The two of them bickered relentlessly like a pair of stubborn children fighting over a toy. They went back and forth, trading virtual blows in an evenly matched war of words. The rapid-fire argument drew the attention of the other group members, who grabbed their metaphorical popcorn, watching the spectacle and occasionally interjecting with amused comments. The chat was practically on fire.

Just as the debate reached its peak, a true heavyweight contender finally logged on. Arriving fashionably late, she immediately stunned the entire group into absolute silence with her opening move.

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "Yo~! Look at all of you gathered here! It seems this humble Parlor Director has arrived at the perfect time! Come, come, look at what I just drew! A genuine purple-grade item! A supreme treasure perfectly tailored for our esteemed Wangsheng Funeral Parlor!"

[Image: A uniquely shaped weapon emanating a faint purple glow, resembling both a staff and a calligraphy brush.]

The attached image instantly commanded everyone's undivided attention. The weapon's overall form was incredibly peculiar, clearly designed with the complex mechanical ability to fluidly transform between two distinct states.

Its first form was a slender, crimson spear with a ghostly, ethereal flame burning fiercely at its tip—the Staff of Homa. Its second form shifted the deadly polearm into a giant, heavy-handled calligraphy brush, its sharp tip steeped in an abyssal, pitch-black ink—the Brush of Judgment.

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "This little beauty is called the Staff of Homa / Brush of Judgment! The system says it's actually a clumsy imitation of a true divine artifact called the Judge's Brush from another world. Apparently, it lacks the true essence of the original and is considered quite crude!"

Hu Tao's typed words practically dripped with her characteristic, eccentric tone. She was clearly bursting with immense pride, yet deliberately feigning a humble modesty just to rile everyone up.

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "However, even as a crude copy, it can still barely manage to unleash one or two-tenths of the original artifact's power. But hey, for a simple Parlor Director like me, it's more than enough! It's enough!"

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "The Staff of Homa form, just as the name suggests, allows me to smoothly guide the wandering souls of the deceased, helping them pass on peacefully while accumulating good merit for the Parlor. But don't be fooled, it's also a vicious weapon in combat! Wherever the staff strikes, it bypasses physical defenses to directly scorch the enemy's soul! It's especially lethal against pesky spirit-type monsters!"

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "And if the wielder manages to gain the full approval of this treasure, they can unlock the Brush of Judgment form! That is when things get truly terrifying! The very tip of the brush carries a genuine trace of the fundamental rules of Life and Death!"

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "By wielding this brush and writing the character for 'Life'in the air, I can forcefully sustain the final breath of a dying person, magically locking in their last flickering glimmer of vitality. It's an absolute, miraculous life-saving technique! But... if I choose to write the character for'Death' instead..."

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "The enemy will directly suffer an invasion from the rule of 'Death' itself! If the target hasn't touched upon the power of universal rules and lacks the ability to resist, then their fate... hehe, will be instant, unavoidable death. A literal rule-level instant kill! So, what do you all think? Isn't my new toy just wonderfully powerful?"

Hu Tao's dramatic introduction was the equivalent of pouring a ladle of freezing water directly into a pot of boiling oil. The already lively group chat completely and utterly exploded into a frenzy of shocked messages.

[Stelle]: "!!! A rule-level instant kill?! Are you kidding me?! That is completely unfair! I demand a recount!"

[Genshin Impact - Paimon]: "Wow! That sounds absolutely terrifying! But... it also sounds super amazing!"

[Genshin Impact - Hu Tao]: "@Stelle, @Genshin Impact - Paimon, yield to my superior fortune! It seems the undisputed winner of this little Luck competition is none other than the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor!"

In the blink of an eye, the group's heated debate evolved from a simple two-way contest between Stelle and Paimon into a wildly chaotic, three-way Mexican standoff involving the Trailblazer, the floating guide, and the eccentric funeral director.

The three stubborn girls fiercely held their ground. Each one genuinely believed that their respective purple-grade item was the absolute pinnacle of power and practicality. They argued relentlessly over every minor detail—comparing long-term potential against immediate combat power, and everyday practicality against sheer, unquestionable coolness. The chat's atmosphere turned red-hot, with new messages scrolling past the screen at a dizzying, almost unreadable speed.

Seeing that this friendly Luck competition was rapidly devolving into an endless, toxic flame war, completely deviating from the group's original, wholesome intention of sharing their gains and progressing together, several of the more mature elders in the chat finally reached their limit. Almost simultaneously, they took decisive action to forcefully suppress the escalating chaos.

Meanwhile, back in the breezy city of Mondstadt, Lumine let out a long, helpless sigh. Reaching into her inventory, she pulled out a carefully prepared, incredibly fragrant Sweet Madame. The moment the golden-brown, perfectly roasted chicken materialized in the air, Paimon—who had just been practically vibrating with fighting spirit, ready to wage digital war to defend Lumine's honor—froze. She was instantly captivated.

Her wide, starry eyes locked onto the glistening, delicious food. A thin line of drool threatened to escape the corner of her mouth. In an instant, all complex thoughts regarding Stat Monsters, Mechanics Monsters, and terrifying Rule Kills were completely thrown to the wind. Letting out a joyful, high-pitched cheer, the little glutton pounced directly onto the roasted bird. As she happily stuffed her cheeks, the fierce group debate naturally faded into a distant, unimportant afterthought.
