Chapter 32 - Battle Pt. 2

The war against the best tide had gone on for a considerable amount of time, the beasts had reduced significantly in numbers, but they still seemed far from the finish line.

Rhoarin had prepared his defense mechanism as the glowing ball of energy flew towards the army at a devastating pace, devouring even the crops of the soil, increasing in size with each passing nanosecond.

His eyes suddenly glowed a deep blue, tiny streaks of electricity sparkling at the corners of his eyes. His hair floated as though submerged in water.

Raising his hand, he flicked his wrists aggressively, sending huge lightning blasts towards the attacks, his aim? Even though these power balls were built to devour everything, his lightning attacks were specifically created to nullify and destroy as well, an attack/defense system he crafted as a child, one that he had perfected throughout his years.

Overloading the seemed like the most logical thing to do.

He whistled loudly, signaling to Karron, who flew over immediately and unleashed its dragon flames on the ball of energy.

As he fired his lightning attacks towards the beasts, Elena stood beside him, her expression was one of concrete belief, she never doubted her husband for even a fraction of a second. She turned her gaze to him and nodded, her hair was still white, but her eyes began to glow too, a bright white color, she blasted an attack of her own as support.

The struggled to withstand the effects of the lightning and ice attacks as it stood in place now, pushing forward as Elena and Rhoarin pushed back, the rubble beneath them trembled and shifted as they grunted.

The millennial beast watched them as they held back its attacks and scoffed, intelligence was like second nature to it, being a creature that had seen many lifetimes. It quickly realized that this was an advantage, to take out the two strongest soldiers in the army, and win the battle once and for all.

The beast smiled cunningly, having dragon-snake like skin was also an advantage, the beast slithered around the attack and the ripples of light caused by it, moving specifically in their blind-spots.

Before too long, the beast stood tall behind Rhoarin and Elena, fangs bared, claws dripping in venom. It raised a scaly palm in order to cut them both open in one fell swoop.

The large hand came down fast, flares of lightning reflecting off of its glass-like claws, fangs glistening.

But before the claws connected.

SWISH!

A lifeless arm crashed to the ground, then withered and scattered as flecks of dust. The beast wailed in pain, finally alerting every one of its presence. Rhoarin and Elena turned their gazes to find the massive creature staggering and holding a bleeding arm--or whatever remained of it.

Ralph quickly snapped back to reality, he had been stunned by the absolute display of power he was witnessing on the battlefield, but only for about a minute, or so he thought. "First division, surround the Centennial beasts, don't let them out of your sight! And do NOT let them near the Millennial!" He said in one breath.

"Second division, on my lead, charge at the Millennial, we will not lose here! Is that understood?!"

"Sir! Yes! Sir!"

"CHARGE!" He yelled as he led the second division towards the wailing beast.

The beast looked at them, an expression of pain written boldly across its face. Without thinking, it attacked again, slashing towards Rhoarin and Elena, waving an uninjured right arm.

SLASH! SLASH!

An arm and a leg came off, the Beast king's cries were heard throughout the battlefield. The second division stopped dead in their tracks upon witnessing the maiming of the beast.

A burly, white-haired man stood in front of the creature, a steel great sword hung perfectly on his shoulders, he wore an expression of disgust on his face.

"Oh, so nice of you to finally pop in!" Rhoarin grunted as he spoke to his father.

"Honey, be nice!" Elena corrected him, smiling as he pouted.

"Ho! Ho! I figured you needed my help, so I decided to come help you finish this rat-muncher off!" Alaric turned around, a playful grin tugging at his lips.

Rhoarin frowned, still struggling to ward of the earlier attack, he hated that smile, one that signaled to everyone that everything was under control and that he was stronger than everyone else.

But what he hated most of all, was that Jacob had the same smile, he knew that was why Alaric had taken such a liking to Jacob, they were almost the same exact person.

In fact, the only thing that Jacob had inherited from Rhoarin, was his looks, all Jacob's personalities were a copy and paste of Alaric's.

Rhoarin almost retched as all these thoughts flooded his mind.

The Millennial beast roared, reminding every one of its presence, its body had already begun to regenerate, as so, there was little time for tomfoolery, the creature had to be finished off immediately.

Alaric's expression changed back into a serious one.

"What about mom?" Rhoarin asked, his voice almost louder than the blood-curdling wails.

"She had other important things to take care of." Alaric responded in kind, his blade whining as if to let him know it could not wait to taste the creature's blood. It was still clean, which meant that Alaric had sliced the beast's limbs clean off, without so much as a single stain of blood.

He raised a hand, signaling to the soldiers to leave the beast to him, to handle alone, Ralph nodded and turned around, charging towards the Centennial beasts, who were now surrounded by the first division.

In about thirty seconds, the once huge balls of had shrunk into smaller balls of ice, and dropped to the soil, Rhoarin, without wasting time, ordered Karron to fly over and assist the first and second division to finish off the Centennial beasts.

Rhoarin, together with Elena, turned towards the Millennial beast, its leg already fully regenerated, they had to stop it before it created another

The real showdown was about to begin.
