The inside of the store was pitch black. Both Lukas, and Drew couldn't even see two feet in front of themselves. Drew grabbed his phone from the left pant pocket, and turned on flashlight mode.
The inside looked abandoned, there were a bunch of tightly sealed boxes, piled up all across the room. There also seemed to be tools sitting where someone would likely be repairing cars. The walls were covered in some sort of weird liquid, that the two of them assumed was just oil.
Lukas slowly inched his way across the room, making sure that Drew was just behind him with said flashlight.
*squish
Lukas looks down to see that he accidentally stepped on something slimy. Drew bent over, and shined the flashlight at the thing. It seemed to be some sort of meat, the smell of it was absolutely putrid, Drew gagged just from being too close. There were also some maggots crawling out of every orifice. Lukas was horrified; he could've gotten some of those creatures' guts on his shoe.
They kept going forward, not wanting to look at whatever that could've been anymore.
There was a box that caught Lukas' eye. It looked like it was overflowing with whatever's in it. Compared to the other boxes. Lukas tip-toe's his way to the box, making sure not to alert anything that was hiding somewhere in here.
Once Lukas got close enough to the box, he had to close his nose. The smell coming from the box, compared to the meat on the floor, was like no other.
He couldn't hold it in anymore, the smell was just too bad for his nose, or stomach could handle. As soon as Drew got close enough to get hit with the smell, Lukas was already hacking all over where he stood. Drew also almost threw up, but he swallowed it before the fluid could exit his mouth.
"What the hell could possibly be in there?!" Drew is disgusted by the taste of his own throw up. He steps in front of Lukas, who was still hacking, and feels up the box. Drew thought that whatever's in there felt super slimy, just like the meet from earlier.
Drew then pulls out a boxcutter from his right pocket, and starts to cut the overflowing mystery box open, without letting his hands tough it. As the boxcutter glided across the blown up cardboard. The smell intensified more and more, to the point of pretty much suffocating Lukas and Drew. They somehow managed to cut across one full side, and making sure not to tough whatever's in there, Drew slowly pulled the box apart, while Lukas held Drew's nose for him.
Lukas pulls out Drew's phone again to shine it onto what's inside the mystery box, and it takes them a minute to process what they're looking at.
Staring back at them, was a severed eyeball, it looked to be blood red. It had a green iris, and the optic nerve was still attached somehow. Lukas and Drew almost creamed, but they covered their mouths, letting the smell in again. Drew poked the eyeball and pushed it out of the way with the boxcutter, making it squirt a little. They looked deeper in to see a random piece of meat, they presumed it to be someone's breast. They were also a couple of fingers laying next to it.
Drew grabbed the big meat box, and picked it up. He brought off just a foot above the ground, flipped it upside-down, and started dumping everything onto the floor. He noticed the name: Andy, on the button of the box, and his face immediately went pale.
"You okay man?" Lukas looks up to see that Drew looks like he's about to cry. Then, all of a sudden, Drew trips on nothing and falls onto the floor. Dropping the box and the rest of the meat onto the floor. He starts scooching away from said box, and hyperventilating while sitting in the bent long position. Lukas looks at the button of the box, just like what Drew did, and he too went pale as a ghost.
Lukas looked at the meat that was still spilling out of the box, and it all started to make sense. The fingers, the eye ball, the appendage. It all was what remained of Andy.
Lukas looked for more boxes frantically, and lifted them all up to see if they also had a name on them. Thomas, Kelly, Charlie, Alex, and the list just kept growing and growing. Each name makes Lukas' mind pound on itself. He drops to the floor after seeing the tenth box, but this one didn't have a name, only a number…
8
Lukas didn't really know what that meant, but it's not like he really wanted to.
He then started to cough for some reason. Lukas covered his mouth out of instinct; but when he removed his hand, he noticed that blood was dripping from his fingers. His vision also started to get fuzzy making it hard to keep his head from smashing on the cold, hard floor.
He looked over towards Drew's direction, to see him fully passed out. His arms flopped onto his stomach. And his legs were not even twitching, or showing any movement. He almost thought for a second that Drew had died; but then he realised what in the hell was actually going on here.
God dammit! I knew it! Lukas thought to himself, while slowly drifting in and out of consciousness.
every part of his body started feeling eerily numb. He couldn't move his arms, legs, or any other part. It just felt like his brain shut off every muscle for the day. Even though he was still awake.
His eye slowly closed, as his brain tried its best to fight for the one to stay open, but its efforts were futile. Before Lukas had known it, he fell unconscious, just as fast as drew.
Everything around him felt like nothing for eternity; before his eye slowly opened back up to see what happened to him.
Lukas was seated in a chair, parallel to Drew who was also in the exact same situation. His arms were tied behind his back, and his mouth was gagged. Lukas tried to scream, but it only sounded like a muffled noise that nobody would be able to figure out. He looked around to see that they were in some sort of huge room, with a bunch of different medical tools scattered all over the place. They were all covered in what Lukas thought was dried up blood and other bodily fluids.
Lukas watched as Drew slowly woke back up, and realised what was going on as well. He too tried to scream; but it again didn't look. The two of them looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
"Hey, hey! Calm down you guys! You'll get to talk in a minute…" Lukas and Drew were both jump scared by the voices that they just heard coming from the dark door frame. They couldn't make out anything sadly.
"Hold on you guys… I need to tell you something…" the guy that they couldn't see said. "We need your help!"
