Chapter 5 - 05

ZENOBIA

I opened my eyes as I heard something unusual around. I was actually enjoying my time with my mom. It was the first time I had ever seen her in my dreams. And I loved her warmth. Her words were ringing constantly inside my head. I sat up on the bed while rubbing the sleep off of my eyes. I looked around and found the guards in the dungeons running towards the exit. I frowned in confusion as I crawled out of the bed and went towards the door of the cell I was inside. I was not sure at all what was going on. It was all new for me. I might have grown up in the middle of a pack of werewolves, but I truly knew nothing about that kind.

My life was practically between the walls of that mansion. I tried to look but I couldn't see much at the exit as my cell was in the far corner. I could hear gunshots and growling wolves. It felt like the pack was under attack. "Whenever the opportunity rises, make sure to get the hell out of this hellhole. You will be given this only chance to run away. There would be no more chances for you. So make the right choice for yourself and for your future. Otherwise your future will be what Garrett wants you to be." I gulped hard as I could swear that I heard my mother whispering in my ear. I looked around but I was the only one inside the dungeon.

A whole bunch of half shifted werewolves entered the dungeons. I went towards the corner of the dungeon cell and hid underneath the bed. For some reason my vision suddenly sharpened up. I was in the far corner and it was dark in the dungeons at that time. But I could see everything. The werewolves stood in front of the cell that was right across my cell. They bowed their heads in respect then they somehow ripped the silver gates off of the cell. I was sure that they were werewolves. But werewolves couldn't resist silver anywhere near them. It was impossible that they just ripped it off right from the walls. I could watch everything they were doing.

In a while, a man who looked to be in his late thirties, stepped out of the dungeon cell. He stretched up his body and I covered my ears. It felt like I was hearing the sounds of the bones cracking. Those sounds were just too loud so I covered my ears. "Unlock all the cells. All these people helped me survive. They are my pack now. We are freeing everyone. Whoever wants to follow us, they can." The man spoke in a loud tone and the dungeon echoed up with the cheers of the werewolves who were locked inside the dungeons for only God knows how long. Once after another, the werewolves unlocked the doors and all the prisoners walked out.

"Quick, my Alpha. We must leave right now. Our warriors are trying to hold the warriors of this pack on the borders so we can take you away." The man who broke each cell with his own two hands spoke to the man who was in the dungeon right opposite to mine. The Alpha nodded his head and started to walk away. He stopped and turned around. He walked towards my cell door. The man beside him opened the cell door I was in. I was not surprised as I knew they were werewolves and they could smell my presence. I crawled out and stood up. My legs carried me towards the door of the cell on their own. As if they might have grown a brain or something.

I stepped out of the cell and looked at the Alpha. He smirked as he looked at me from head to toe. "Everyone deserves to be free. Use your freedom wisely, little girl. Or you will never see me coming to slash your throat." The Alpha threatened me and I gulped hard in nervousness. I quickly nodded my head. He turned around and started walking towards the exit. All the prisoners were following him. So I did the same. I also started following him.

"Don't! Don't follow him. Or you will get everyone in trouble. You need to pick your own way and make sure you run the opposite side." I heard an unknown voice inside my head and I looked around.

It was not the voice of my mother. It was a female voice. It was unknown and yet it felt very familiar and warm. "Who are you?" I asked out of fear while following the group of the prisoners. The prisoners turned around to look at me. Some shook their heads in a disappointed way as they all turned back around and walked towards the exit.

"Silly girl. You shouldn't speak that loud. I can hear you clearly even when you think in your head. I will explain everything to you soon. Right now, just do as I tell you. I will get us out of here and no one gets caught." That unknown voice spoke again. I nodded my head as I heard her.

I was standing in front of the doors of the mansion. Everyone had already run away from the mansion. While I was still staring at the sky. "Alpha's prisoner is trying to escape. Get her." I heard someone yelling from behind. I turned around and found a few guards running towards me. I screamed loudly in pain and fell on the floor as I felt like someone was breaking my bones. My body filled with red fur right in front of my eyes. My bones readjusting themselves. My hands turned into paws. A guard tried to grab my hair but with a single slash I was able to rip his chest in half with my shape claws. My clothes were torn apart as I shifted into my wolf for the first time.

My wolf howled so loudly that all the glasses and mirrors in the mansion shattered into millions of pieces. The guards who dated to come near us, my wolf ripped their hearts out without breaking a sweat. She jumped out of the mansion and ran to the other side. I didn't know where she was going. And I didn't even dare to ask her. I just knew that she would do everything she could to keep me safe. "We are going to the city, as our mother has asked us. It is not very far away from here. But that way, we can repay that Alpha for his kindness. All the guards would be running after us in no time." She informed me.

She kept on running through the woods. I could hear all the wolf warriors along with Garrett himself, running after us. I was not surprised at all when I heard the whole pack running after me. Garrett was an asshole and a bastard. There was no way he would let me run away. My wolf sped up and she ran without looking back. We practically out ran them. We were far away from Garrett and his pack. Suddenly, I heard a gunshot. I felt an unbearable pain as my wolf was thrown away. She tried to get up but she couldn't get up. My bones started readjusting themselves. I was shifting back. The gunshot wound was beneath my left shoulder. The shooter barely missed my heart.

I walked out of the woods with my hand covering the bleeding wound on my chest. I was all naked but all I cared about was to get as far away from Garrett and his pack as possible. I saw a tall and muscular man standing with a gun in his hands. I felt like ripping him apart for shooting me. But I didn't have much strength. The first shift was always the toughest. I walked towards him. But I missed a step and fell on the ground in front of him. My vision started to get blurry as I was staring at him. I tried to speak, but I didn't have strength for that as well. I gathered up all the strength I had left inside me. "Hhhheeelll… HELP ME!" I was able to utter two words then my whole world went blank.
