Synopsis
Su Yansheng had died in service to his country. He was a Duke who had led 100,000 soilders to protect the capital against the invasion of the Gorgoyeons of an army of 1 million soilders. Hearing the cheers of his people, realizing the war had been won, the spear he had been holding suddenly felt heavy in his hands, so did his limbs and his eyes. The last thing he saw was a crimson sunset, if it was from the blood dripping from his head, he wasn’t sure, but looking to the side, he saw the palace walls, and someone with strong shoulders standing on it, he could finally let go. Waking up, he found himself the owner of an inn that welcomed lost and anguished souls in a space that never ran out of food, accommodation and gossip to listen to from his customers. Was this the universe giving him a retirement package, he wondered as he laughed heartily, but why were the stories of his customers always about the trashy and horrible men in their lives? Su Yansheng just knew the universe wasn’t so generous. This is the story of a general who died for his country and king, and thinking he could finally relax for some peace and quiet, he had to raise his sleeves and become a therapist to his customers. “You were just the stand in, but after 7 years of devotion, he only gave you a house in the country side and a measly severance allowance of $10,000 as thanks and get lost?” “No problem! if you can’t bear to tear his face off, there is good food and company here, I won’t charge you anything.” “What, you stayed silently by his side, always providing your blood every two weeks to cure his illness from a cold poison but he thought you were crude and were only doing it for attention?” “No problem! we have ginseng and other things here that would make sure you never run out of blood.” “Don’t you like being a blood bag?” Yansheng asked sarcastically. Seeing the white rabbit in front of him actually smile and thank him, Yansheng almost fainted out of anger. “Dear heaven, take me back to the battlefields, I won’t complain again. Are you listening, I said take me back!!!” Yansheng roared to the sky. At this point, the door to the inn opens. A tall looming shadow blocks out the sunlight and a faint scent of cedarwood fills the space. “I’ve finally found you.” Turning to look towards the door, Yansheng sees the new visitor and immediately regrets trying to bargain with the heavens. He was happy here, he would definitely never complain again, he screamed in his mind, but outwardly, he had to put a smile on his face. “Your Majesty, what are you doing here.”

Chapter 1 - The one who loved till death: Part 1

Sitting on a rattan chair, his face covered with a book to block the sunlight and dressed in a white, wide sleeved, long robed hanfu with lotus pattterns on the edges was Su Yansheng. He had let his long dark hair fall freely on his shoulders, down to his waist and he looked every bit the careless tyrant he was trying to portray.

There was a small Hesi table by his side with a heating talisman placed underneath it. A jar of wine and a glass half full on top of the table and a box filled with Tarayan dried meat by its side.

Reaching his slender hand to see if the meat was warm enough with his eyes still closed and covered, Yan was about to pick up the box when he heard the door leading to the balcony slightly open with very light footsteps approaching him that he could only hear due to the harsh training of his upbringing. Then he felt a movement in the air, a change in the direction of the wind and a weight settle on his face.

This damned cat!

Yan then felt the cat resting on his face begin to use its paws to swat at his head and when he made no moves to acknowledge it, the cat brought out its claws instead.

As soon as he felt the first sharp sting on his head, he immediately moved to swat the cat away, removing the book that had been covering his face in the process.

The cat, indignant, turned to look at its stupid roommate and wanted to pounce on him to show him who was really the boss here, but as soon as he saw his face, his anger died down. It's not that he was easily swayed by beautiful things, but he knew that this pet of his had the most enchanting face he had ever seen, it would be a shame to leave it all scratched up and bloody.

Yes, its only because he was kind and magnanimous owner, he wouldn't argue with lesser beings.

Su Yansheng only ever wore white, but it only highlighted his features, allowing it to shine through unblemished. He had a pale face and eyes the color of the night which could easily peirce through a persons soul, with a single mole beneath his left eye which when he smiled, gave him a flirtatious look and lent his beauty a quiet imperfection.

Retracting his claws and taking on a superior look, he gazed at Su Yansheng who still made no move to get up and spoke.

"There is a new guest."

Noticing the look of disdain of this cat of his that he had never wanted or payed for, he felt very stifled and felt like he had swallowed a fly.

"It hasn't been a week yet, how is it that someone new is already here?"

Wondering why his pet was asking stupid questions, the cat immediately did not want his illness to rub off on him so he turned to walk away back into the building.

Seeing the cat leaving and flicking its tail at him, Yan immediately burst into anger.

Standing up, "Hey I'm talking to you, you big fat cat that only knows how to eat and mess around, answer me."

"Fei bao, hey Fei bao, Fei Fei, I know you can hear me," Yan called out.

The cat didn't even look back and simply kept walking downstairs. He had told Yan several times not to call him those silly names.

Following the cat and trying to catch it to pick it up, it's fur entirely white other than its orange paws, Yan noticed that his hair was a bit disheveled so he rushed back out to the balcony to fix it. He then carelessly knotted his hair on his head with a jade hairpin of greenish-yellow and pale tones, at the top was an intricate floral motif of petals and leaves, highlighted in shades of orange and light green, which can be said to be the only thing of color of wore. Even at that, there were still strands of hair that was loose on his head, giving him a roguish look.

Then he rushed back downstairs to bicker with Fei Fei and finally receive the new guest to his Runaways Rest inn.
