Chapter 1 - chapter 1: The Unexpected Side

The afternoon sun stretched lazily across the quiet streets, painting everything in a warm golden glow.

Inside the classroom, the ticking clock felt louder than usual.

Airi Takahashi sat perfectly upright, her pen moving smoothly across her notebook. As always, she looked flawless—calm, focused, untouchable.

"Of course she finished already…" someone whispered from the back.

Airi ignored it.

She was used to this.

Perfect student. Reliable. Mature.

That's what everyone saw.

But the moment the final bell rang—

She moved faster than anyone.

No chatting. No hanging out. No wasting time.

She packed her bag and left.

🏠 After School

The moment Airi reached home, everything changed.

She dropped her bag near the door.

"I'm back…" she said quietly.

No response.

She sighed.

"Guess I'm on my own again…"

Within minutes, she tied her hair into a messy bun, threw on an oversized t-shirt, and walked straight into the kitchen.

The "perfect girl" disappeared.

Now she was just… tired.

Cooking. Cleaning. Managing everything.

"Why does it always feel like I'm the parent…" she muttered, flipping vegetables in a pan.

A small burn mark on her hand stung slightly.

But she ignored it.

She always did.

🌆 Evening Encounter

Later that evening, Airi stepped outside to buy groceries.

The air was cooler now, carrying a soft breeze.

As she walked down a quieter street, she suddenly heard laughter.

Not loud.

But warm.

She paused.

"…That voice…"

Curious, she peeked around the corner.

And froze.

There—standing under a streetlight—was Ren Kuroda.

From her class.

The quiet one.

The gloomy guy who barely spoke.

But this…?

This was completely different.

He was smiling.

Actually smiling.

His posture was relaxed, one hand casually in his pocket. His voice was soft, kind—even playful.

"…You should head home before it gets too late," Ren said to a younger kid beside him.

The kid nodded happily and ran off.

Airi blinked.

"…That's not him."

It couldn't be.

At school, Ren looked like someone who didn't care about anything.

But right now—

He looked… warm.

Alive.

⚡ The Moment

Airi accidentally stepped forward.

A small sound escaped from under her shoe.

Crunch.

Ren turned.

Their eyes met.

Silence.

Airi's heart skipped.

"…Takahashi?" he said, surprised.

She panicked.

"I—uh—I wasn't spying!"

"…You kind of were," he replied calmly.

His tone wasn't cold.

It wasn't awkward either.

Just… normal.

That made it worse.

Airi crossed her arms, trying to regain control.

"You're… different."

Ren tilted his head slightly.

"…So are you."

She froze.

"What does that mean?!"

He glanced at her outfit—oversized shirt, messy hair, grocery bag.

Then back at her face.

"You don't look like the 'perfect Takahashi' right now."

Her cheeks flushed instantly.

"T-That's none of your business!"

A small smile appeared on Ren's face.

And for a second—

Airi forgot how to breathe.

🌙 A Secret Begins

They stood there, an unusual silence between them.

Not awkward.

Not comfortable either.

Something new.

"…You won't tell anyone, right?" Ren asked quietly.

Airi looked at him.

For the first time, his eyes weren't empty.

They were… honest.

"…Only if you don't," she replied.

He blinked.

"…Don't what?"

She pointed at herself.

"This version of me."

Ren stared for a moment—

Then chuckled softly.

"Deal."

✨ Ending Scene

As Airi walked home that night, her thoughts wouldn't settle.

Ren Kuroda.

The quiet boy.

The "loner."

Had a completely different side.

And somehow—

He had seen hers too.

Airi touched her cheek, still slightly warm.

"…What was that smile…"

For the first time in a long while—

Something in her routine had changed.

Something small.

But meaningful.
