Chapter 14 - The Silent Applause

In his imagination, crowds cheered for Ethan's words. Standing on imagined stages, he felt the thrill of recognition, the joy of connection he had always craved. For a few moments, he smiled, imagining applause, accolades, and understanding.

Then he opened his eyes, and the room was empty. The silence returned, heavier than ever. His applause existed only in the mind, a cruel mirage in a life dominated by neglect and isolation. He wept quietly, mourning both what was real and what could never be.

Every story he wrote was a silent plea to the world, each character a fragment of his yearning. But the world remained deaf, and the echo of imagined applause mocked him, reminding him of everything denied: recognition, companionship, and love.

Ethan sank to the floor, hugging his knees, surrendering momentarily to despair. Even imagination had limits, and when it could no longer console, only silence remained.
