Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chloe

We arrived at the airport fifteen minutes before take-off time. One thing Yvonne's good at is being late. The one time she has ever been early was during her LSAT, which is the Law School Admission Test.

I hugged her and waved her goodbye then drove home. I haven't seen my boyfriend in almost twenty-four hours.

"Hey babe, where are you at?" I said as soon as he picked up my call.

"I'm home my love."

My heart began to sink. I could feel my cheeks turning red. I love it when he calls me sweet names.

"On my way Pookie," I hung up the phone and continued driving.

Ever heard of the saying, the love that comes unexpectedly is the most beautiful? Well, I met my boyfriend, Jamal Thompson, at the club. After a little chit chat, I followed him home that night and we had sex. I thought he'd never talk to me again, but he did and ever since then, we've been obsessed with each other.

I got to this house and knocked on the door. It opens immediately. He began smiling at me. His dimples started showing through his beard. I love this man, I said to myself. He put his hands around my waist, pulled me close, and French kissed me. It was getting so intense because he started grabbing my ass. I pushed him away and giggled.

"Can I come in at least?" I asked.

"Excuse my manners, I'm sorry. Yes, you can." He held my hands and brought me in.

"Omg! What's that smell?" I ran into the kitchen to check what the smell was. It was the tantalizing aroma of his cooking.

He laughed. "It's Jollof rice. Want some?" I nodded and he scooped some into a plate for me.

Jamal is half Nigerian. He is the most handsome man I've ever met. I can't even talk of how he makes my legs quiver. I can't wait to go lifeless again.

It took me about five minutes to finish eating. Jamal was just staring at me. I got shy and he walked up to me. He lifted up my face with his hands and made me stare into his eyes. I licked my lips nervously and he pressed his lips on mine.

"Do you know how beautiful you are?" He asked.

"No. TELL ME". I demanded. He drew me closer and grabbed my waist. He asked me again and this time I yelled "NO" trying to run away from his arms.

He drew me back again. The thoughts of having to sleep with him again wasn't something I want to be filling my head. I just want to see my relationship beyond sex. Jamal is so attractive and caring, but he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend, and I don't want to be left in the dark when he finally tells him I mean nothing to him.

After clouding my head with all these thoughts, I jumped back into reality. I pushed him away angrily and went to sit down on the couch.

"What is going on with you?" He asked, walking towards me.

"Nothing." I answered even though I still looked like I could put a bullet hole in his head.

"With that face?" He scoffs, "Baby girl, I'm not twelve." He grabbed my hands and kissed them softly.

"I don't want you to be mad at me when I say it. I love it when we don't fight," I told him.

"You can't stop making assumptions about every situation, can you?" He then pulled me to himself and made me sit on his lap. "Spit it out," he added.

"Do you love me?" I asked hastily.

"Is this really your problem or there's something else??"

"I wanna know. I wanna know how to deal with this situation we have going on that we call a relationship… I wanna…" I paused my words and got up from his lap and went to the other end of the room.

"Don't stop now. Finish what you have to say. I'm listening"

"I wanna know if you really want to be with me. You say you want me but you can't ask me to be your girlfriend" I yelled at him and burst out crying.

"Why are you even crying, oh heavens!…come here," he said, spreading his arms open for me to give him a hug.

"Close those arms 'coz I won't let you comfort me if you don't give me a response."

I picked up my purse and headed for the door. Feeling like an idiot. How would I even think a one night stand will actually want to be with me. I sobbed silently praying for him to call me back and tell me it's all my assumptions again. I shut the door and walked to my car then suddenly I heard footsteps. I turned around quickly because I knew it was him. He stood in front of me for a while before speaking,

"You left your keys." He said putting them in my hand and then walked away.

My heart sank. I couldn't believe what just happened. My prayers didn't work. The feeling of being played ran through my nerves. Without hesitation, I got in my car and drove off.
