Chapter 10 - Mystery Finds II

Renee's POV

He dug with the shovel, and the bad odor came back. Not from the well but from the ground. That took us some time. Cam hit his shovel on something, it's not hard like the ground. He removed it and saw the human eye.

He moves back in fright, and both of us do as well. "That's a real human eye isn't it?"

"Yes, it is." I replied.

He took the shovel and drew a line to make up a rectangle. Morgan spied on us from his house, I know it's him. I can see him walking down to us. The moment he got close to us he said, "You guys can't uncover everything today. I already called my uncles to help."

"Do you trust them, I mean not to tell?" Anna asked.

"Yes they work at the mortuary. What else? They'll be here soon with their truck." Morgan replied.

"Thank you so much, Morgan." Cam appreciated the information given. I've never seen him use this tense before. He picked the shovel up and took out the dead body, it's a woman. An elderly woman but how come her face didn't fade?

Cam said, "You know, all my years of being alive. I've never seen a human buried for more than a decade look this fresh. It's liked they never died."

I see the resemblance to the girl, it's her mother. I run to meet Morgan while Anna stayed with Cam. "What's that?"

"The man, her father." I feel really bad for them. Only God knows what they went through.

Oh my God! His chest's open, no heart just open. His intestines are gone, this is terrible to look at, he's so pale. The smell is even worse. I hear a horn sound, it's his uncle. Amen.

They step out, "You guys got a lot of courage coming out like this. I just say good job." The first man spoke.

"Good morning, I'm Renee." He looked attractive to my eyes, so why not him. I liked his dick size as well, at least from what I could see.

"Nice to meet you, Renee." He looked hot, not by temperament but by body and face. He stretched his right hand out for a handshake, slightly friendly. I loved his masculine approach.

The other looked like him but it's clear they're not twins. "So Morgan said you guys work at a mortuary?" Cam asked.

"Yes, finally we've found the bodies of the missing fifteen. If not all then a little trace to at least some. It's been decades." He said.

"How do you know about them?" I asked.

"We've been in this town for a very long time to know Renee. You even bear her name."

"I guess."

"It's okay we'll take it from here."

They move to the back, they uncover one body. Her younger brother, worms crawling off his eyes and mouth. Eww, his ears too. He looks so pale as well, he's got his lips removed. This is so scary to watch, I swear. Slight chills slip through my body.

Cam yelled, "Did you guys find anything?"

"Yeap!" They yell back.

One of them walks back to take what they found to the car. They put them in a casket. They take both parents to the caskets and place them in them. I just stare at the bodies. I don't know what it means to be dead. Believe me, I don't wanna know what it feels like either. Although I felt like I died in myself a long time ago until this happened.

So far three bodies, from just one family. Is this progress or not? "Renee?! Hold my shovel." He walked off to talk to the guys.

They nod their heads in agreement I think. "We need to dig the next, by the left." All of us cover the already dug-up parts with new sand. Extremely unnoticeable.

Anna pointed to a spot, "Right here I saw five here. They always stand here."

"Then we dig right here." Cam said.

He put a shovel deeply, he draws it out. The bad stench starts, of course, some things there. "Wait you guys, how many members of each family?"

"Up to four or five in a family. If this is five then it's a complete family." Why would the bodies surface from six feet deep suddenly.

They take hours to dig up, and the smell covers everywhere. We had to find our nose masks. We just dig and dig until five come out of the ground. I'm so grateful for all of this. They smell terrible, one had his right ear cut off. The other two had their nose removed. One had his eyes gone and his wife I guess had her breast gone.

This is worse than an actual horror movie. The pain, horror, terror and anguish they felt? I can't imagine. We covered up the spot after they carried the bodies to the truck. The fresh scent drives off the sand. It's already noon on the dot. Mom shouldn't be around by now so we're not expecting her at all.

The brothers come back and see the space filled up, they're impressed and I know it. They walk to the well, Anna yelled, "Don't have hers first. Wait for her signal, she told us to bury her last."

The brothers stare at Anna like she's insane. "She's right, this house is more than haunted."

"We knew it actually, we said it before buyers came but do they ever listen?"

I'm guessing no, meaning dad knew all along but he's decided to play dumb. "To the right then, I'm sure we'll see two more families." This guy's courageous.

Everyone moved to the right, Anna stood still. We all turn to stare at her standing still. Anna walked over to us, what are you waiting for? She stared at us silently.

"Anna move, are you alright?" She blinked and then fell to the ground. Cam held her close. She opened her eyes again, and the four of us just watch from our distance. What just happened?

"Anna? What happened? Who and where?"

"The families you just dug out. They stood in front of me just now. They said thank you to me. They said the journey starts and they said we are already in trouble."

"Why? Aren't they supposed to rest? Wait but before that. What do you mean by we are in trouble? And of course, what journey starts?"

Anna replied, "Well I don't know yet." He helped her stand properly before leaving her.

His uncle replied, "They'll rest when the killer is buried not when they just got dug up. Until they're buried and until the killer's dead."

"So what's the guarantee?" I asked.

"If they leave here. They'll meet with other spirits, that'll keep them there, not here. Also if the occult still covers the man then it's a dead end." He said.

"That's good." Anna said.

Cam asked, "What's good about it?"

She replied, "We just crossed one level."

Now I'm sure we're doing the right thing. Indeed I'm sure. "Also there's a man around town telling people the opposite story. He's not her brother, he's just not part of the story." He said.

He what!

"Well okay? So who's his brother? He ran for his life and died. That's the man we uncovered at the gate while you guys were back here." Morgan's uncle walked away after saying that.
