Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 – The Equalizer’s First Shot

Two weeks passed after Leo returned from Nicolas Flamel's manor.

During those two weeks, nearly all of Leo's free time disappeared into alchemical research.

To avoid constantly troubling Dumbledore every Friday evening, Nicolas eventually gave him a special Portkey shaped like an old silver key. With it, Leo could travel directly to the manor on weekends whenever he wished.

More importantly, it allowed him to seek Nicolas' guidance immediately whenever he encountered particularly difficult alchemical problems.

On the Wednesday before the next weekend, Leo briefly returned home to Nicholas Manor.

That night happened to be the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Because his mother came from Great Xia, the celebration had always been important within the Nicholas family. Every year, the three of them gathered beneath the full moon to eat mooncakes and enjoy the rare peace of being together.

This year, however, two additional guests joined them.

Nicolas Flamel and Perenelle.

Originally, Leo had invited them out of affection and simple politeness. He never truly expected the elderly couple to accept.

Yet they did.

The evening passed quietly and warmly.

Leo described his experiences at Hogwarts while his parents listened proudly, clearly delighted by how much he had already grown. Meanwhile, Nicolas and Perenelle seemed genuinely fond of the atmosphere.

For the first time in many years, the elderly couple experienced a true Mid-Autumn Festival.

The following morning, Leo brought several mooncakes back to Hogwarts to share with Harry, Draco, Hermione, and the others.

Absolutely not because he had already eaten too many himself.

And naturally—

He also delivered a box directly to Dumbledore.

After all, even old bees deserved mooncakes occasionally.

Friday arrived quickly.

Inside a hidden laboratory within the Cave Heaven, Leo stared quietly at the two revolvers resting atop his worktable.

One gold.

One silver.

Both Colts were engraved with strange intertwined patterns resembling flowers and ancient runes simultaneously. Beneath the soft laboratory lighting, the weapons looked beautiful enough to belong inside a museum.

Leo's eyes gleamed with excitement.

"The Equalizer of All Beings," he murmured proudly.

Then he frowned slightly.

"Should I test it with Harry... or Draco?"

These two revolvers represented the first genuine success created jointly by Leo and Nicolas Flamel.

The:

Equalizer of All Beings — Wizard Edition, Generation Zero.

Originally, Leo intended to create fully enchanted magical ammunition alongside them.

Unfortunately, he failed.

Repeatedly.

Nicolas himself could easily create magical bullets, of course.

But the old alchemist refused.

Since the Equalizer was Leo's creation, Nicolas insisted that Leo eventually solve the ammunition problem himself.

Both as training.

And as proof that Leo could truly stand on his own.

As a result, magical ammunition became one of Leo's long-term alchemical goals.

Still, manufacturing individual bullets manually sounded deeply irritating.

Leo had already begun considering assembly-line production methods instead.

One step at a time.

He holstered the silver revolver beneath his arm while storing the flashy gold version inside a reinforced pouch.

Then he left the Cave Heaven and headed directly toward Hagrid's hut.

Earlier that day after Potions, Leo had told Harry and Draco to meet him outside Hagrid's hut for an "Equalizer experiment."

Naturally, neither of them refused.

Curiosity won immediately.

By the time Leo arrived, nearly everyone was already waiting.

Harry.

Draco.

Hermione.

Rose.

Ron.

Even Neville.

Harry looked openly curious while Hermione's expression carried a mixture of suspicion and excitement.

Rose's eyes sparkled brightly.

Ron, Draco, and Neville, meanwhile, looked completely confused.

Mostly because anyone arrogant enough to name something "The Equalizer of All Beings" sounded at least slightly insane.

Leo smiled mysteriously before producing the two revolvers.

Instantly—

Harry, Hermione, and Rose froze.

Hermione's eyes widened.

"Leo..." she whispered in disbelief. "That's a Colt revolver."

Then she slowly looked back up at him.

"The name suddenly makes much more sense."

Rose nodded rapidly.

"I never expected to see Muggle weapons inside the wizarding world."

Her expression grew fascinated.

"Though considering this is your wizard version... that makes it even scarier."

Harry stared fixedly at the revolvers.

His uncle owned old shotguns back home, but these weapons looked entirely different.

Elegant.

Dangerous.

Beautiful.

And Harry desperately wanted to hold one.

Meanwhile, Ron looked completely lost.

"What exactly is that?" he asked. "It just looks like fancy metal."

Draco immediately drew his wand with visible disdain.

"A Muggle weapon?" he scoffed. "There's no way that compares to magic."

Though Neville quietly agreed, he wisely remained silent.

Hermione immediately corrected them.

"A Colt revolver is a firearm," she explained patiently. "In the Muggle world, they're extremely dangerous weapons."

Ron still looked unconvinced.

"How dangerous could it possibly be?"

Leo ignored him entirely.

Instead, he handed the silver revolver carefully to Harry with the barrel pointed safely toward the ground.

"Here," Leo said seriously. "Try the Wizard Edition, Generation Zero."

Before releasing it completely, however, he immediately added,

"Never place your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire."

"And never point it at anyone."

His tone became unexpectedly strict.

Then he removed a single golden bullet from his pouch.

"And this is the ammunition."

Leo intentionally kept the bullet separate for safety.

Even he wasn't entirely certain how stable the weapon remained.

"Since this is the wizard version," Leo continued, "you'll need to feed a small amount of magic into it."

He pointed toward the engraved runes.

"When the patterns light up, it's ready."

Harry nodded immediately.

"I understand."

Unlike Ron, Harry instinctively treated the weapon seriously.

His hands trembled slightly as he accepted both the revolver and the bullet.

Excitement mixed with nervousness.

Under Leo's guidance, Harry loaded the weapon carefully before aiming at a thick tree standing roughly ten metres away near the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Hermione looked deeply nervous.

"Harry, be careful."

Rose watched with obvious excitement.

Ron folded his arms.

"I still don't see what's so impressive."

Draco looked equally unconvinced.

Harry inhaled slowly.

Magic flowed from his fingers into the revolver exactly as Leo instructed.

The engraved runes along the barrel suddenly glowed faintly.

Then—

BANG!

A blazing beam of magical force erupted from the revolver with a thunderous crack.

The shot slammed directly into the tree.

The massive trunk shook violently under the impact while leaves burst downward from the branches overhead.

A deep smoking hole appeared instantly in the wood.

Silence.

Everyone froze.

Ron's mouth slowly fell open.

His entire understanding of Muggle weapons had just been violently shattered.

Draco's expression became equally grim.

For the first time in his life, he genuinely questioned whether a wand represented the absolute peak of weaponry.

Neville stared at the revolver with huge eyes filled entirely with curiosity.

Hermione looked stunned.

"The penetration force alone is incredible..."

Rose looked practically thrilled.

"The wizard version is amazing!"

Meanwhile, Leo simply stared critically at the slightly overheated barrel.

Then he sighed.

"Still not good enough."

Everyone turned toward him in disbelief.

Not good enough?!

Leo frowned thoughtfully.

"I enhanced acceleration and penetration using alchemy," he muttered while inspecting the revolver carefully. "But it still failed to completely penetrate the tree."

His expression remained deeply dissatisfied.

"It needs improvement."
