Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: “Finding My Strength”

Friday morning.

Isabelle sat at her desk, staring at her laptop, but her mind wasn't on work.

Clara's latest move—the necklace, the note, the social media post—was rattling her.

But this time, Isabelle didn't feel panic or fear. Instead, she felt… determination.

"I can't just let her keep playing," she muttered under her breath. "It's time I take control too."

Marco noticed her intensity from across the office. He raised an eyebrow, curious. "You okay?" he asked, walking over.

Isabelle turned to him, a small, confident smile forming. "I'm more than okay. I've realized… I don't have to just sit back and wait. I can act. And I will."

Marco's eyes softened with pride. "I like that. But be careful… Clara is clever."

"I know," Isabelle replied firmly. "But I can't be afraid anymore. I trust us. I trust myself."

Later that afternoon, Isabelle approached Clara at the office, her steps deliberate, calm.

Clara looked up from her desk, surprised to see Isabelle standing there. "Oh… Isabelle. What brings you here?"

Isabelle smiled faintly. "I just wanted to talk. Face to face. About all this… interference."

Clara tilted her head, amused. "Interference? Me?"

"Yes, you," Isabelle said firmly. "I know what you're doing. The whispers, the messages, the games outside of work… I see them. And I want you to know—Marco and I are not afraid of them. And neither am I."

Clara's smile faltered slightly. "Oh? Bold words. Do you think you can stand up to me?"

"I do," Isabelle said, her voice steady. "I'm not alone, and I'm not powerless. Marco is mine, yes—but I can protect this too. I can protect us."

Clara blinked, clearly taken aback. She wasn't used to Isabelle speaking with such confidence. "Interesting… I didn't expect you to fight back."

Isabelle nodded. "I'm done being afraid. And if you want to continue your games, know this: they won't work. Not on me. Not on us."

Clara's smirk returned, but there was a hint of respect—or at least calculation—in her eyes. "We'll see about that…"

Isabelle turned to leave, feeling a rush of empowerment. She had faced Clara, not with anger, but with composure, confidence, and strategy.

Later, she met Marco by the elevator. "I did it," she whispered, smiling.

Marco grinned, wrapping an arm around her. "I saw. I'm proud of you. You didn't just trust me… you trusted yourself."

She leaned against him. "It feels good. Strong. Like I finally have control over my own heart, my own choices. And Clara? She won't control me anymore."

Marco kissed the top of her head. "Exactly. That's my Isabelle."

For the first time in weeks, Isabelle felt completely free—not just because Marco stood by her, but because she had found her own strength.

Together, they were unstoppable.

And now, Isabelle knew, they could face whatever Clara threw at them next—confident, united, and unafraid.
