Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 – Snape’s Madness

"Do you know what a gold card is?"

"Gold cards? You mean those dream-series collector cards? Of course I know them!"

"They're the most popular thing among the girls at Hogwarts right now. Every card contains moving photographs of a certain wizard's daily life!"

"If you own a gold card, congratulations—we're officially best friends now!"

The conversation above came from two first-year witches discussing the latest craze sweeping through Hogwarts.

And the source of everything—

Was a single mysterious series of gold cards.

According to rumour, two incredibly mysterious merchants inside Hogwarts had somehow obtained photographs documenting Logan Anderson's daily life before imprinting them onto handcrafted golden collector cards.

Their official title was:

The No. Series Dream Gold Cards.

Legend claimed the series contained over thirty unique cards featuring different moments from Logan's life.

Some cards showed him reading quietly beside the Black Lake.

Others showed him practising magic, studying in the library, or sitting calmly beneath sunlight while white doves fluttered nearby.

And naturally—

The rumours surrounding them became more ridiculous with every passing day.

Apparently, anyone lucky enough to obtain one of the cards would establish a "fated bond" with Logan himself.

Male students would supposedly become his sworn brothers and lifelong comrades.

Female students, meanwhile…

Well.

Rumour claimed they would eventually form a beautiful romantic relationship with him, perhaps even growing old together in the future.

Compared to the girls, most male students found the entire thing rather silly.

But the witches of Hogwarts?

They had completely lost their minds.

Fred and George originally assumed selling a few cards would simply earn them some quick spending money.

Instead, the bidding war escalated so aggressively that even the twins became frightened.

The little witches buying those cards looked terrifying.

Absolutely terrifying.

Fred still vividly remembered the glowing expressions in their eyes as they fought over rare editions.

At one point, he genuinely thought they might eat him alive if he announced the wrong auction result.

The prices kept climbing higher and higher every single day.

Honestly, the twins had never expected a simple photography scam mixed with nonsense rumours to become this profitable.

What was the Muggle phrase again?

Ah yes.

It was like shovelling money into sacks.

And now the twins were beginning to realise something horrifying.

If Logan's popularity continued increasing at this speed, then if he ever got married someday, these girls might actually attempt to storm the wedding.

Fred and George had accidentally discovered a path to unimaginable wealth.

The production cost of the cards themselves was tiny.

The real value came from the photographs.

Every image was carefully selected, beautifully framed, and completely unique.

Still, there was a problem.

If they wanted this business to continue growing, they would need to keep secretly following Logan everywhere while taking more photographs.

The twins suddenly felt slightly uncomfortable about that.

More importantly—

What happened if the girls eventually discovered the "fated romance" rumours were fake?

The mere thought of angry Hogwarts witches hunting them down sent chills through Fred's spine.

Originally, their goal had simply been earning enough Galleons to fund future joke products and prank inventions.

One day, they planned to open a proper joke shop in Diagon Alley.

And when that happened—

Their names would become legendary throughout the wizarding world.

....

Meanwhile, Logan himself remained completely unaware that his face had officially become commercial merchandise.

Inside the Potions classroom, Severus Snape stalked between desks like an enormous black bat.

But today—

Something was clearly wrong with him.

"Potter," Snape said coldly, "for failing to concentrate properly in class, Gryffindor loses ten points."

Harry blinked in confusion.

A few seconds later—

"Potter, for staring directly at your professor, Gryffindor loses another ten points."

Harry nearly choked.

Then—

"Potter, for whispering during my lesson and disrupting the classroom atmosphere, another ten points from Gryffindor."

The entire class fell silent.

Even the Slytherins looked slightly alarmed.

Snape had always targeted Harry, but today's aggression had reached completely unprecedented levels.

Harry sat frozen in his chair.

No matter what he did, Snape somehow found a reason to criticise him.

And every criticism immediately became another excuse to deduct house points.

In less than ten minutes, Gryffindor had already lost thirty points.

At this rate, they might genuinely lose over fifty before the lesson even ended.

Harry's face gradually turned red with embarrassment.

Normally he didn't care much about house points. After all, Hermione and Logan always earned ridiculous numbers back anyway.

But today felt different.

Watching Snape repeatedly punish Gryffindor because of him made Harry feel genuinely guilty for the first time.

It felt like he alone was dragging everyone down.

So Harry simply sat stiffly in silence like a wooden statue, afraid to even look around the room.

On the nearby side of the classroom, Hermione frowned deeply.

"Snape's going way too far today," she whispered angrily towards Logan. "Why's he targeting Harry like this?"

Logan glanced briefly towards the front of the classroom.

Snape's attention remained entirely locked onto Harry.

"I'm not completely sure," Logan admitted quietly. "But he definitely seems worse than usual today."

Even Logan found it difficult to watch.

What exactly happened to Snape?

Was this related to the upcoming Quidditch match somehow?

Maybe he wanted to pressure Harry mentally before the game?

No.

That didn't feel right.

Based on Logan's understanding of Snape, the professor wouldn't behave this irrationally over Quidditch alone.

Eventually, Logan simply concluded that Snape's menopause had arrived early.

Meanwhile, standing at the front of the classroom, Snape continued glaring at Harry with increasingly dark eyes.

Every time he saw Harry Potter's face, a wave of uncontrollable rage surged through him.

He knew perfectly well that he had gone too far today.

But he couldn't stop himself.

Ever since drinking that cursed Love Trap potion and experiencing the illusion hidden inside it, Snape had suffered nightmares every single night.

James Potter's face haunted him constantly.

That arrogant grin.

Those humiliating memories.

And worst of all—

The horrifying scenes from the illusion involving Lily.

Every single nightmare reopened old wounds buried for years.

Which meant every time Snape looked at Harry Potter now…

He no longer saw only Harry.

He saw James.

And that instantly drove him insane.

By this point, Snape had completely abandoned rational thought and dedicated himself entirely to finding increasingly creative methods to emotionally destroy Harry Potter in class.
