Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 – The Secret Buried Beneath Ravenclaw

The Levitation Charm could indeed move objects through the air and alter their trajectory.

But giving dozens of scattered objects enough force to tear through a troll's body like artillery shells?

That absolutely was not part of the spell's normal capabilities.

After hearing Logan's explanation, even Dumbledore found himself momentarily uncertain.

Could an Obscurus truly enhance magic to such an outrageous degree?

How could it amplify an ordinary spell into something this destructive?

The old wizard slowly surveyed the battlefield around the bathroom again. Looking purely at the traces left behind, Logan's explanation technically made sense. The troll really did appear to have been killed by debris launched through some incredibly powerful variation of the Levitation Charm.

And yet—

Dumbledore still didn't believe the magical fluctuation from earlier belonged to an Obscurus.

The problem was that he couldn't think of a better explanation either.

Everyone had secrets.

Even he did.

At the very least, Dumbledore could tell Logan hadn't used any dark curse or forbidden black magic tonight.

And besides…

What exactly was he supposed to do?

Legilimency had already proven ineffective against the boy.

Meanwhile, Logan felt rather satisfied with his own explanation.

Protecting a classmate at the risk of his own life.

Unlocking hidden power during a moment of desperation.

Turning defeat into victory through sheer determination.

This was practically the standard plot of every heroic fantasy protagonist ever written.

Judging from the professors' expressions, the story had worked perfectly.

Many of them were now looking at Logan with obvious admiration.

Even Hermione's reaction was becoming increasingly dangerous.

The girl supporting him looked on the verge of tears after hearing his explanation. Her eyes shimmered with emotion as she stared at him, and the warmth in her gaze grew more obvious by the second.

Nearby, Harry suddenly revealed a strange but deeply satisfied smile.

He knew it.

There really was something going on between his two friends.

At that moment, Harry felt like an old father proudly witnessing the beginning of a young romance. The more he thought about it, the brighter his smile became.

Then, completely by accident, Harry noticed something strange.

Snape's leg appeared injured.

There was blood on it.

Harry's eyes widened instantly.

In that moment, everything suddenly clicked together inside his mind.

So that was it.

That explained everything.

No wonder Snape had been acting suspicious all night.

No wonder he had disappeared earlier.

Harry immediately became convinced he had uncovered the truth behind tonight's events. His gaze towards Snape turned openly hostile.

Snape noticed immediately.

The Potions professor narrowed his eyes and glared back with such cold menace that Harry nearly jumped out of his skin.

Harry's face turned pale instantly.

Soon afterwards, the matter was temporarily settled.

Quirrell was ordered to remain behind and clean up the battlefield, while Logan—due to his exhausted condition—was escorted towards the hospital wing by Hermione, Harry, Ron, and Professor McGonagall.

As they walked through the corridors, Hermione sincerely thanked Harry and Ron for coming back to look for her.

The earlier conflict between them quietly disappeared during the conversation, and just like in the original timeline, the fragile little boat of friendship between the four first-years was finally repaired.

A while later, inside the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey slowly set down the instruments in her hands.

Her expression was unusually grave.

"Unbelievable," she murmured while looking at Logan lying on the bed. "Your magical reserves were depleted to a terrifying degree. It's almost as though something forcibly drained every last drop from your body."

Hermione's face immediately turned pale.

Madam Pomfrey continued seriously, "Historically, severe magical exhaustion has killed quite a number of wizards. Even survivors are often left with permanent damage that affects the rest of their lives."

Hermione instantly panicked.

"Will Logan be alright?" she asked anxiously. "Can he recover properly? You have to help him, Madam Pomfrey!"

The matron glanced meaningfully at the young witch gripping her sleeve before speaking in a gentler tone.

"That's the incredible part."

She turned her gaze back towards Logan.

"Normally, recovery from magical depletion like this would take a very long time, assuming recovery is possible at all. But there appears to be some strange force inside his body slowly replenishing and repairing the damage."

Madam Pomfrey's eyes were filled with astonishment.

"I've honestly never seen anything like it before. At this rate, he may fully recover after one night's rest without suffering any lasting side effects."

She shook her head lightly.

"It's practically a miracle."

After hearing the diagnosis, everyone finally relaxed.

Logan did as well.

The strange restorative force Madam Pomfrey mentioned was almost certainly related to the grimoire. Even while lying in bed, he could faintly feel warm magical energy slowly circulating through his exhausted body.

Still, his attention was focused elsewhere entirely.

Specifically—

The message hidden inside the girls' bathroom.

According to the information he had uncovered earlier, something had happened to Rowena Ravenclaw after returning from that mysterious cave long ago.

Or rather…

Something had entered her.

Another personality.

Another consciousness.

Perhaps something even worse.

Whatever it was, Ravenclaw had apparently been powerless to stop it. Worse still, her mind had gradually begun breaking apart while the unknown entity gained increasing control over her body.

Every time she tried telling others the truth, the thing inside her would apparently seize control and stop her.

Which raised an even more disturbing question.

How had she managed to leave behind that hidden message inside the bathroom stall?

And why choose such a bizarre location in the first place?

Then there was Salazar Slytherin.

According to the message, he seemed to have realised something was wrong with Ravenclaw.

So what happened afterwards?

Logan's thoughts spiralled deeper and deeper.

What if Slytherin didn't leave Hogwarts because of ideological conflict?

What if he left because he discovered the truth?

And perhaps—

Never returned.

The more Logan thought about it, the more horrifying the entire mystery became.

Could the real Ravenclaw have already been replaced back then?

If so…

What exactly was the fake Ravenclaw trying to accomplish?

And if that was true, then was Ravenclaw's famous daughter in history even biologically related to her at all?

Things were becoming more complicated by the minute.

At present, the clues he possessed were only enough to support speculation. If he truly wanted answers, he would eventually need to investigate the legendary relics connected to the Hogwarts founders themselves.

But not yet.

There was no time limit attached to this mission.

More importantly, his current strength still wasn't enough.

Tonight's battle had already proven how dangerous things could become. Until he mastered stronger forbidden spells and guaranteed his own survival, investigating secrets from a thousand years ago would simply be suicide.

Once he became stronger…

Then he could uncover the truth.

For now, though—

He needed rest.

Exhaustion finally overwhelmed him completely.

Logan slowly closed his eyes and drifted into deep sleep.

Hermione clearly wanted to remain beside him instead of returning to the girls' dormitory, but Madam Pomfrey firmly chased the students out of the hospital wing so her patient could rest properly.

Eventually, only Professor McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey remained behind.

Madam Pomfrey stared thoughtfully at the sleeping boy before speaking quietly.

"The restorative force inside him is extraordinary. Honestly, even if you hadn't brought him here tonight, he likely would have recovered naturally after a single night's sleep."

She paused briefly.

"You understand what that implies, don't you?"

McGonagall's eyes flickered slightly.

After several seconds of silence, she finally replied in a calm voice.

"Logan is my student."

There was unmistakable certainty in her tone.

"His talent surpasses anything you can imagine. Miracles happening around him will not be the first… nor the last."

She looked towards the sleeping boy again.

"I will teach him properly. I will guide him onto the correct path."

Then McGonagall's expression hardened slightly.

"And if the day ever comes when difficult choices must be made…"

Her voice became exceptionally firm.

"Then I will choose to be his professor first."
