As the blade twisted inside the monster, the core shattered, exploding with a violent force that hurled Elias back. He slammed into the ground, skidding for a few meters until he stopped.
"Urghhhh!" He groaned as he pulled himself up. He looked up, not caring for his wounds, he wanted to see if he managed to take down the three-headed dog, and as his eyes landed on it, he watched it collapse to the ground.

The rewards for taking down that massive monster were not great, but what Elias felt at the moment was indescribable, a rush that was better than what any high could give.
Huff Huff
His breathing was heavy, a smile formed on his face.
Dawn turned around and looked at him, she gave a nod and a smile. "Well done, Master," she commended him, her tone genuine.
Elias felt a surge of happiness as he heard that. He pushed himself off the ground and to his feet, and with a wide smile on his face he approached. His body was bruised up after getting thrown across the floor, but he didn't care about that.
Dawn looked at the body of the three-headed dog, she approached and stabbed into it, tearing the flesh apart as the dark blood seeped out. She bent in and took a sniff, her nose scrunched.
"It's not safe for consumption," she muttered.
"You can tell from a sniff?" Elias asked, walking to her side and looking at the flesh.
"My nose can tell when something is dangerous or not, this flesh would kill if you eat it, you'd need to boil or roast it for hours over an intense heat to be able to eat," she explained.
"I don't think we have much of a choice, food is limited, and everything might be the same here," Elias muttered, he rubbed his hand on his chin, after a few seconds his eyes widened, he looked at Dawn like he had just realized something.
"Dawn, you said we needed an intense flame, right?" He asked.
"Yes, we do." She replied, turning to look at him. "Do you have a means to get one?" she asked.
"I might," Elias replied. He looked at the body of the three-headed dog and then proceeded to explain. "This monster will serve as the meat and the furnace." He said, taking his sword and then stabbing into the body, right where the lungs should be.
"You see, monsters or beasts from what I know have organs that allow them to harness mana, they evolve it through time. This monster was capable of intense flames and those flames are most likely generated from the heart of the monster.
If what I'm recalling is right, then the walls of the lungs should be coated with some intense flame structure, where if met with mana, it ignites and creates the flame that it uses to attack.
We have mana here, and now all we need is the walls of the lung to use and create a flame." Elias explained while cutting into the monster, blood gushed out non-stop, but he kept his head down and focused.
Dawn was fascinated by how much Elias knew about this, she bent down beside him, looking at what he was doing.
"How did you learn this?" She asked, curious.
"Well, I was forced to take in all the information around me no matter what, after all, I was meant to be a genius." Elias said, he dug his sword deeper, the inside of the three-headed dog got hotter as he went deeper.
"At some point I believed I was a genius, after all it was all I was taught, haha, pretty stupid of me." He muttered, his voice oozing with sadness and anger. He finally made it to the lung and his face immediately lit up.
"Yes, let's go." He said as he eagerly cut around it until he finally made it through completely, he pulled out the entire lung system and tossed it to the floor.
"Here we go, our flame." He said with a confident grin. Dawn looked at it, a bit confused.
"How do we use it now?" She asked.
"Watch and see," he replied, going down and then tearing it open. Inside, there were vein-like patterns that weren't really veins, they connected to the bottom of the lung where some round balls of flesh were connected and had a subtle red glow at the center.
"Seems I was right," Elias said, he pointed at the balls, "to get a flame, I need you to simply give a spark of mana, that's enough, it will burn on the residual mana that's in the body, I hope." Elias said, he stepped back and allowed her to do her thing.
Dawn placed her hands over it, and with a single thought, her mana flowed into the balls and ignited the flames instantly. She had to move back fast to evade the flames scorching her.
"It worked, haha." Elias said excitedly, he looked at Dawn with a bright smile on his face. Dawn saw the smile, she didn't know how to respond, so she just looked away.
Elias felt a bit awkward, but that wasn't enough to dampen the mood now.
"Let's get some of the good parts out, and use the flames before it burns out."
Dawn took that part, she cut the flesh up as best as she could, and then stuck them down her sword, roasting it over the open flame.
Elias sat cross-legged beside the flames, staring at it, lost in thought.
'Is there a way out of here? I've never heard of anyone leaving the ancient dungeon. I don't know what I'm doing, walking around hoping for the best, tch, what a joke.
I might die here, no no, not that, I'm not dying until I make sure I save Elena. Whatever it takes, I'll leave this place, I'll get my revenge, save Elena and find my mum, no matter how long it takes, or how hard I have to push.'
"I think it should be ready," Dawn spoke.
