Once upon a time, in a kingdom of green valleys and clear streams, lived a Princess named Lina. She was beautiful and kind, but she was very sad. She had everything a girl could wish for, yet her heart felt empty, and she spoke very little.
"Alas," said the King, "what can cure my daughter's sorrow?"
One day, while riding her horse in the deep forest, Princess Lina heard a sound that made her stop breathing.
It was not the chirp of birds, nor the whisper of wind. It was a voice so clear, so sweet, and so full of emotion, that it sounded like the most beautiful song in the world.
La-la-li... lu-lu-lo...
Following the melody, she pushed aside the bushes and saw a magnificent creature standing by a stream.
It was the size and shape of a horse, but its head was as white as snow. Its body was covered in brilliant stripes, just like a tiger's fur, mixed with glowing red patterns that looked like fire and flowers. And its tail was long, fluffy, and powerful, just like a tiger's tail.
This was the Lù Shǔ, the Spirit of Song.
The creature did not run away. It looked at the Princess with gentle eyes and sang again. Its voice was so pure that flowers bloomed where it stepped, and the water in the stream seemed to dance.
Princess Lina felt a warmth she had never felt before. Tears of joy rolled down her cheeks.
"Beautiful singer," she whispered, "your voice heals my heart. Please, will you stay with me?"
The Lù Shǔ nodded slowly. It walked up to her and let her touch its soft mane. From that day on, they became the best of friends. Wherever the Princess went, the magical beast followed, filling the air with wonderful music. The Princess became happy again, laughing and singing along with it.
Years passed, and the Princess grew up to be a wise Queen. She married a good and brave King, and soon they were blessed with many children. The royal family grew larger and happier with every passing year. The palace was always full of the sound of laughter and children playing.
The people whispered among themselves:
"Look! The Queen is so fertile and blessed! Her descendants are like the stars in the sky!"
They remembered the legend of the Lù Shǔ. Although no one ever harmed the beast or took its skin, just by having its presence and blessing in the kingdom, the land became prosperous, and the people multiplied and thrived.
The Lù Shǔ lived to a very old age, always singing, always beautiful. It taught everyone that true wealth is not in gold or fur, but in joy, music, and the love of family.
And they lived in melody and abundance, happily ever after.
