Kakuzu arrived at the rendezvous point with Hidan. Hidan was leaning against a massive boulder, and when he saw Kakuzu return, he jumped down and immediately started complaining:
"Kakuzu, I told you back then to have the clothes finished at the shop before taking them, but you wouldn't listen. You insisted on sewing them yourself. Fine, you sewed them—but you did a terrible job. A few days ago, Deidara even filed a complaint about you. And instead of just beating him up, you insisted on dragging him all the way to the Land of Lightning to settle it properly. And then you took forever! I had to wait here alone. Do you know how much time I've wasted? With that time, I could've already handled my own business. When I joined the organization, I clearly said—"
"Enough, Hidan. That's enough," Kakuzu cut him off quickly before he could keep rambling.
But just as Hidan was about to continue, a figure suddenly appeared atop a boulder five meters away, looking down on them. Dressed in a black-and-white kimono—it was Rorin.
Seeing someone appear out of nowhere, Kakuzu frowned and demanded, "Who are you?"
Rorin simply smiled down at them without speaking. The Curse Mark spread across his body as he directly entered Curse Mark Level Two. The patterns intertwined across his chest, and a pair of gray wings sprouted from his back.
Because his transformation was fully under control, his face remained unchanged.
He pulled a bone blade from within his body. Bone spikes formed around him as defense, and he pointed the blade straight at Kakuzu and Hidan.
Kakuzu froze for a moment, then said calmly,
"You're the mysterious ninja from the Hidden Leaf Village that Deidara mentioned."
Rorin had no intention of wasting words. He knew that to capture Hidan, he first had to deal with Kakuzu.
So...
Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Seedling Fern!
With Rorin's activation, the terrain-altering technique erupted. The ground beneath Kakuzu and Hidan trembled violently before sharp bones burst upward from the earth. Forced apart by the sudden change, the two were separated as the bones continued growing, forming an entire forest of bone.
Kakuzu and Hidan dodged continuously, avoiding the relentless bone attacks. As the distance between them stretched to nearly fifty meters, Rorin smiled faintly. His figure vanished, blending into the bone forest, and in an instant he appeared before Kakuzu, catching him completely off guard.
Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Brambles!
Hundreds of bone vines erupted from Rorin's body, wrapping around Kakuzu and binding him tightly to the ground.
Rorin disappeared again, reappearing beside Hidan, who had been isolated on the other side.
Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Clematis!
Rorin swung his bone blade rapidly, launching a barrage of high-speed thrusts.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Hidan didn't just stand there—he swung his triple-bladed scythe, blocking the incoming strikes as sparks flew.
In the next moment, Rorin vanished again and reappeared behind Hidan, driving the bone blade fiercely into his body.
But Hidan showed no panic. Instead, a faint grin spread across his face.
Slash!
The blade pierced into his body, blood flowing out—but Hidan simply turned his head and looked at Rorin with mocking amusement.
Yet instead of the shock or panic Hidan expected, Rorin responded with a strange, sinister smile.
With his other hand, Rorin pulled out his own spine.
Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Clematis—Vine!
The long spine wrapped around Hidan's body, binding him completely and immobilizing him. Then Rorin released the limit on his chakra.
Eight Gates: Gate of Wonder—open!
Blue vapor erupted from Rorin's body as his eyes burned with intensity. To use the Deprivation Device, the target had to be unable to resist. There was no way Hidan would willingly cooperate, so the only option was to render him unconscious.
At first, Hidan's immortality had troubled Rorin—no matter what damage he took, he wouldn't die.
But on the night Rorin left the Hidden Leaf Village, an idea suddenly struck him.
Who said losing consciousness had to mean death?
Knocking him out would work just as well.
Rorin looked up at Hidan and grinned.
"It's fine. Just take a nap."
A flicker of fear crossed Hidan's eyes.
Rorin steadied his stance—then began to spin!
Rising Dragon!
That's right—Rising Dragon was a taijutsu Rorin had developed based on the Leaf Dragon God. By spinning at extreme speed, he created a dragon-shaped tornado, concentrating all the wind force into a single point before launching it skyward with an uppercut. At the eye of the storm, Rorin reinforced it further by generating bone structures at its core.
Since the wind dragon spiraled outward from the center, the eye of the storm became the strongest point instead of a weakness.
As the tornado surged into the sky, Hidan was carried upward within it. Bound by Rorin's spine, he couldn't move and was forced to spin endlessly in the violent winds. His body was sliced repeatedly by the cutting gusts.
Though the wounds meant little to Hidan, the endless spinning made him dizzy.
Far away, Kakuzu watched the rising tornado and quickly understood—the young man's target was Hidan.
But why Hidan?
Kakuzu knew Hidan's abilities well. He didn't believe this kind of attack could kill him.
About fifteen minutes later, Hidan had spun tens of thousands of times. His eyes rolled back, and foam dripped from his mouth.
Confirming Hidan had passed out, Rorin dispelled the tornado. Hidan slowly fell from the sky. Rorin flapped his wings, flew up, caught him, and then vanished together with him using the Flying Thunder God.
After Rorin disappeared, the bone bindings around Kakuzu vanished as well, though the bone forest remained. Kakuzu landed slowly, staring at the spot where they had disappeared.
"That was... the Flying Thunder God of the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama?"
Kakuzu frowned, then contacted the other members of the Akatsuki through his mind.
Moments later, the projected figures of the Akatsuki gathered. The illusion of Pain asked calmly:
"Kakuzu, why have you called us?"
"That… Hidan was just captured by a ninja from the Hidden Leaf Village."
The others were stunned.
What? They—who were always the ones capturing Jinchūriki—had actually been captured themselves?
Had hunter and prey switched places?
Pain's projection quickly regained composure and asked quietly,
"Who was it? Could it be Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin?"
Kakuzu shook his head, then glanced at Deidara.
"It's probably the same Hidden Leaf ninja Deidara encountered in the Hidden Sand Village."
