Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The life of Yurika

Yurika is a very beautiful girl, possessing signature blonde hair and always loved by everyone for her sociability. Since childhood, Yurika has hated her own parents. This is because they operate for an underground organization, and the leader is none other than Mr. Souma—her father.

On her 6th birthday, she witnessed a scene that she would remember forever. She peeked into her parents' room through a small crack in the door. Mr. Souma was on the phone, his voice cold:

-"You couldn't even handle that one brat?"

Her heart seemed to skip a beat. But the more terrible thing was when she looked over—her mother was standing nearby, silently wiping blood off a gun. That moment caused her to completely collapse.

That night, Yurika could not close her eyes. She thought about the nights her parents often disappeared, the times they forced her to stay still in her room. Tears had soaked her pillow without her realizing it. Also from then on, a determination gradually formed within her—to join Lumen, the organization that always operates for the light.

At the age of 18, on her birthday, Yurika stood before her parents, her face strangely calm:

-"Father, Mother, I am grown up. I think I need to have a life of my own, I want to join the Lumen guild."

Mr. Souma frowned, setting his cup down hard on the table. "Thud."

-"What did you say?"

Yurika maintained the same expression, replying:

-"I want to join the Lumen guild."

Mr. Souma flung the cup to the ground, his voice becoming harsh:

-"If you want to go, then get out of this house!"

-"Don't let me see your face again!"

Yurika silently went upstairs to pack her luggage. When she walked to the door, she stopped for a moment.

-"…I'm sorry."

Her voice grew quiet. Mrs. Yura—her mother—did not reproach her. On the contrary, she softened her voice:

-"If anything happens… then come back here with me."

She gently placed a necklace in her hand. Inside was a photo of the mother and daughter. Yurika stiffened. A moment of hesitation flickered in her eyes.

-"…Yes."

"Click." The door closed.

Under the dim light of the night, Yurika walked silently in the park. She didn't know where she had to go. She didn't know where "home" was anymore.

Suddenly— She bumped into a red-haired guy and fell down. He helped her up.

-"Are you okay?"

Yurika lightly brushed her clothes.

-"I'm fine. Thank you."

After saying that, she turned away immediately, her footsteps limping. The guy noticed that.

-"Hey, what's wrong with your leg?"

-"Leave me alone."

He slightly curled his lip.

-"Don't you also need someone to take you home?" The voice carried a bit of provocation.

-"I don't intend to go home."

-"Why?"

Yurika waved her hand, her voice cold:

-"It's none of your business." – while saying that, she swaggered on.

He stood watching her figure fade away. Suddenly, there was a thud sound, that figure collapsed. He stepped over:

-"You are really stubborn, I will temporarily let you stay at my house for a few days."

-"Will it bother you?"

-"I'm only letting you stay temporarily for a few days."

-"Then thank you."

He helped her walk—a reluctant expression:

-"Only this once."

He stood watching her figure disappear into the night. Suddenly— "Thud." That figure collapsed. He stiffened for a second, then quickly stepped over.

-"You are really stubborn."

He looked at her, his voice still calm:

-"Temporarily… I'll let you stay at my house for a few days."

Yurika looked up slightly, her eyes flickering with hesitation:

-"Will it bother you?"

-"I'm only letting you stay temporarily for a few days."

She was silent for a bit, then whispered:

-"…Then thank you."

He reached out to help her up, his movements somewhat reluctant.

-"Only this once."
