There is hardly any school - going kid who has not heard or read about the world renowned author J. K. Rowling. Her life is a classic rags- to - riches story. She is best known as the author of the harry Potter series, which is so far the best - selling series of books in history. But success was not a piece of cake. Many of you may not be aware of how much hard work, determination and preservance Rowling has to put in so as to establish herself as an author of note.

J. K. Rowling was born Joanne Rowling in Yate , near bristol on 31 July 1965. Her father Peter Rowling was an engineer for Rolls Royce at this time. Her mother anne was half - French and half - Scottish. Rowling herself admits that she was a bit of a daydreamer as a child and started writing stories at the age of six. "Certainly, the first story l ever wrote down (when I was five or six) was about a rabbit called Rabbit," Rowling said in an interview.
